Wii Sqweeze Gives You the Upper Body Strength Of An Olympic Cyclist
Posted by Jason Chen at 4:20 AM on August 19, 2008
This Wii Sqweeze demo by InterAction Labs supposedly does for your upper body what Wii Fit does for the lower body of the 10 people who actually managed to find one. The thing is essentially two squeezable grips (exactly like the kind you can get at sports stores now) that correspond to claws and bows and other activities on screen. It's not a real Wii game now, but just a PC demo running off a Wiimote tied via USB to a Wii. Could it be a real Wii game? Sure, but unless it's got Nintendo's name and advertising attached to it, we don't think it's going to do that well. [Exergamelab]

They can just call the whole suite of these applications (Wii Fitness, Wii Squeeze etc.) Wii Care.
@Chromeo: @Mr.SithNinja: They will eventually have those, but I think the next logical step is the Wii Subway Diet.

What the Wii lacks in true cardiovascular activity, it more than makes up for in the number of unusual gadgets. Is there anyone out there that is actually collecting them all?

@NumberFiveIsAlive:
I doubt the Wii-Fit was made for fitness snobs.. Its great at teaching someone how to stretch (Yoga) that really never knew how and open them up to a world that they might not have had enough gumption to try.
Next thing you know, you're going to tell me that Brain Age is a joke to geniuses...

@Mr.SithNinja: You mean holding the controller doesn't count as weights?

The Wii-Fit is pretty much a joke in fitness circles. Its like super low intensity 'cardio', if you want to call it that. At least they don't have ripped guys standing next to the Wii Fit. ;)

@mmplisskin: You might, but you'd be mistaken.
@Mr.SithNinja: Well, Wii-Bows wobble but the don't fall down.
@lldsandsll: ...and the first thing I free-associated when I read that was "GI like girlfriend?" I... I don't know why... I think I need help.

@ripfire: Only if it is the OG Xbox contoller. That thing was a BEAST!! However, it wouldn't surprise me in the least to see a Wiimote dumb bell set come out soon.

@mmplisskin: was just going to say that. Cyclists are probably the worst examples of upper body strength. Maybe some of the olympic guys however, who are just cycling like 1 km or so, have a strong upper body, since yanking at your bike improves explosiveness. Or so...

This could also work for a hedge trimming game! Mario ditches his job as a plumber and goes for landscaping instead. Super Mario Lawn and Garden CONFIRMED! (WiiMower and WiiWeedeater sold seperately)
