USBFever Reinvents iPhone 3G SIM-Eject Tool, Sells it for US$3
Posted by Kit Eaton at 1:15 AM on August 5, 2008
When Apple reinvented the paperclip for the famous SIM-eject tool, it was at least a free gizmo, included in the package. USBFever clearly thought there was a gap in this market though, and have reinvented the reinvention. The new SIM-eject tool has a rubber-bung top that allows it to be stored in your iPhone 3G's headphone socket ready to be whipped out at a moment's notice when you need to change the SIM card. Probably only for really frequent SIM-swappers who don't use headphones, though, since it will cost you US$3. [USBFever]

this is actually a nice product, since you can use it to cover up the headphone hole at the top. too bad i don't live in america.

Are u serious?? You don't need to swap sims all of the time, even if you do have a different....
wait, nm, now I remember I was going to do the same thing. I was going to keep my AT&T tilt and my 3g iphone, using my 3g iphone as a "secondary" phone, but luckily I was smart enough not to do something that stupid. All I wanted the tilt for was txting and flash support, plus a few other things. Stupid me, new phone = new compromises.

Something that keeps dirt out of the headphone socket isn't a bad idea.

You know....I actually had to have my 1stG Iphone serviced 2X (and eventually replaced) from schmutz getting in my headphone jack.
and I actually suggested some sort of blank to protect that bung hole.
no really.....stop laughing.
I had to drive to my genius bar, 45 miles each way. :(
good idea, even if u never replace the sim

I know there are some people that travel out of their home country. And because of this they will buy a sim card to save on phone calls.
But honestly. a paper clip, which last time I checked was available world wide, will do. Then you can use the eject tool that came with the phone. But who would shell out $3.00 plus shipping for an eject tool?
Though I have a feeling it cost less then having to buy a replacement sim eject tool straight from Apple.

So where do I keep it when I want to plug a headphone? It's quite a small tool and I don't want to lose it.
Great idea but lacks development.

I've had this idea for months. However my homemade SIM ejector tool lacks some pizzaz. It was a dirty hypodermic needle and a piece of chewed up bubble yum that i jammed in the headphone jack. Worked like a charm though.

Anyone interested in a paper-clip?. I am selling it for $5. It has had one careful owner and has been bent, uh engineered to the perfect shape.

Actually this may be the best thing ever cause last time i was under the influence, water had somehow found its way into the headphone jack creating a lighter spot on the screen :/

Now how do you pop the little bung out of the headphone hole? You need another bung to get the first bung inside the hole out?
