Treo Pro Gets a Video, Still Runs Windows Mobile
Posted by Jason Chen at 1:42 AM on August 20, 2008
Slashgear's just found a video of the upcoming Treo Pro, a device that physically looks like the Centro, but runs the touchscreen version of Windows Mobile. The video shows you pretty much what you need to know about how big the phone is in your hand (not too big) but if you want to see it compared to some other things, there were the photos before and also some new photos over at a Chinese site. With all these leaks, the Treo Pro pretty much DEMANDS to be released soon. [Treo Pro via Slashgear]

Before the iPhone, I was a Treo man (Palm OS only). Best user interface/experience before the iPhone (and in some ways, I still miss the thumb QWERTY).

...aaaand the video is gone.
Thanks and best of luck Palm! (But without the Palm OS you know, as you have given up on that and killed the awesomest thing you had to go and whore out with WM... good job.)

@kaffeen: You sir are my best friend! I owned a Handspring, Tungsten and for over a year a Treo 680p and that silky keyboard is something I miss most now that I have an iPhone.
I can't express enough the sadness I feel for Palm fscking up Palm OS. They were the first awesome execution of the sync, the touchscreen and the keyboard... it just makes one think how could they possibly fsck that up...
Such shame...

Windows Mobile: ugh. Of course, the Palm OS is looking more "ugh"-ly by the day. Poor Palm...how the mighty have fallen.

What a shame, with it running WinMo, I can't even consider it. PalmOS may be ridiculously antiquated at this point, but for me, it's still got more promise than WinMo.

Looks nice, but as others have pointed out... Windows Mobile kills it for me. Why can't they provide a Treo Pro M and Treo Pro P (or whatever your marketing dept decides to brand it). Give people options. I once swore by Palm devices. For a while I even preferred them over the early blackberries. But now, I am so disappointed. I still have a glimpse of hope for the new PALM OS that is due (I think) next year. Come on Palm... you can do it.

At least it's running Windows Mobile. It's probably the only reason why I'd consider buying any Palm devices these days.

Is that 6.1? I'm not sure, as I am not well-versed in all things Windows Mobile.
And what is up with the music for this video? Are they targeting South America as the biggest marketplace for this device? How about getting a promotional video that shows us what really makes this device special out of the hundreds of other Windows Mobile devices out there?
