Toshiba Flash Chips Doubled to 32GB, Good for PMPs, Mobile Phones

Toshiba has announced it's beefing-up its line of NAND flash storage chips to 32GB sizes. The new package combines eight 4GB 43-nanometer chips into one—double the previous generation's capacity—and is specifically aimed at the portable device market. Since it can be dropped into existing slots, manufacturers have to make no specific changes to accommodate the new chips. Toshiba, of course, doesn't name its clients, but suffice it to say Apple is on the list. The new chips will be available as samples in September, with bulk production starting soon after. Hmm. Should I get the 16 GB iPhone or hold out for the 32 GB? Nah. I'll be good.

32GB iPhone coming out around christmas FTW?
too bad i'm probably gonna be locked in with the instinct (if i mooch off of my parents) or a 16GB iPhone 3G (if i can convince the parents to pay minutes, and i pay internet and text) within a month.

@The Magnificen7: I just wanted to explore the possibility of other mobile devices incorporating 32gb of flash other than the iPhone, as implausible as it sounds at this juncture.

Couldn't the iPhone already get 32GB since the touch has that? Where's the 64GB?

You people, couldn't hold on commenting about the iPhone with 32 GBs! Oh my god! You really are iSheep! I for one, would like to see a Nokia or Sony Ericsson with 32 GBs of internal memory. Or heck, even a nice camera! Sheesh! You make me sick. And don't get me wrong, I do want an iPhone. And will buy one! But nevertheless it is annoying to read all over the Internet for the damn thing! It is an object, get over it!
