Tatung Prototype The Nicest VOIP Phone I've Seen Yet
Posted by Brian Lam at 11:03 AM on August 28, 2008
The difference between what I would like to look at and what I would like to use makes for a a gap wider than the Grand Canyon, in this case. One button, no tactile feedback and no screen make this VOIP phone prototype little more than an electronic lollipop. But my desire to lick one increases with every glance. @CrashOverride777: The phones have a Skype logo, so I'd guess yes. But at the same time it's a prototype so it may never actually work enough for anyone to use.

I would totally buy that, if it was reasonably priced.

@CrashOverride777: the numbers become bold after you hit them, although that means you don't know what order the numbers are in...

How can you tell what your dialing? Also does it work with Skype?

There was a time when no phones had displays. You get used to it. It's a nice looking phone.

Tatung makes my plasma and I love it to death, so I'd definitely be interested.

@Crash Override 777: im sorry, but if you cannot remember what your punching into the phone half way through the number, thats called short term memory loss

@Crash Override 777: Unfortunately, by the looks of it, yes. This is unfortunate because that probably means it won't support something a little more standard, like SIP, IAX, or H323. Which means I'll never use it. Oh well.

@Crash Override 777: Unfortunately, by the looks of it, it does. What this means is that it probably won't work with something a little more standard, like SIP, H323, or IAX2. Which is a darn shame, cause I'll never use it.

The coloring is somewhat... Ferrari.

Disgustingly ugly. The fact that this might make it to market proves there are far too many form-over-function people influencing design.

Not an American Airlines friendly product.

Not a product...yet, just a concept. And until I see it on the shelf it's just a cute design study.
