Steve Jobs Started the Popped Collar Trend
Posted by Jason Chen at 3:30 AM on August 2, 2008
A man ahead of his time, Steve Jobs not only developed the first iPhone circuit board prototype more than 20 years ago (though Woz did all the work), he pioneered the popped collar trend that's sweeping tanning salons, batting cages, and car modding shops everywhere. DBags everywhere salute you, sir. [Natuba]
Note: We've seen that picture a million times but only noticed the popped collar when Natuba pointed it out. It's likely that our eye was drawn to Woz's nifty Apple belt buckle.
The magnificent bastard also rated Steve's current attire, and what do you know, the conclusion hasn't changed in over 20 years.

What's really baffling to me is that Woz is wearing his ID-badge... as if nobody would know who he was, or would question his credentials.
... I can see it now, as the Apple security guard enters the lab ...
Hey, you, bearded guy with that swanky belt buckle and disco-tastic smile! Yes, I'm talking to you, dance party! How did you get in here? C'mere one sec. Hmmmm. Wozniak. What's that, Polish or something? How long you been here? Alright. The ID looks right, but I've never seen you here before. Oh, so you work a lot of nights, do you? Okay. I'll have to run this past Mr. Jobs. I'll be back in ten minutes. Don't touch anything until I get back. Mike, can you watch this guy for ten minutes, make sure he doesn't touch anything? Great. Okay, Mr. Woznark. I'll get you checked out. No more dancing in the shop, okay? Okay. No, it's not "the Hustle", sir. No it's not. What you're doing is called "the high likelihood of an accident", Mr. Woznart. See that soldering station over there, over next to the oscilloscope? Yes, right there where you were flailing around. That's delicate electronic equipment, sir, and that soldering iron is really hot. Yes, well, I'll let Mr. Jobs verify that they're both yours, okay? Okay. Cripes. Okay. I'll be right back. OSHA would put us out of business if they saw you having fits like that in the lab. Sheesh. Don't let him go anywhere, Mike, and don't let him touch anything until I get back. Give him a handful of those nixie tubes to play with or something... anything to keep him from having those spastic fits. No it wasn't, beard-o, you wouldn't know the Hustle if it bit you in the butt. I'll be right back.

steve jobs is actually an android developed by woz.
woz put the power button on the back of steve jobs neck.
jobs quickly discovered this button, and covered it with his shirt to hide it from Woz.
woz quickly forgot about the power button, and steve jobs has been running autonomously ever since. the button remains hidden to this day.

Screw the popped collar. It's all about Woz's belt. Little known fact about that buckle: He was so good at minimizing systems, that when combined with other items of "clothing" on his body, it creates a functioning APPLE II.

I saw a guy on campus once wearing two shirts with the collars popped, a hat that was slightly askew and not actually on his head (just sort of perched there), his shirt was tucked in only on one side of his huge belt-buckle (I don't recall what it was, but it was certainly douchebaggery of the highest order) and to top it all off, he was wearing capri pants and crocs.
I laughed so hard it took every ounce of strength I had just to keep the urine safely inside my bladder =\

@Adam Frucci: That was kind of a, you know, jackassy move, don't you think? Banning a guy for expressing his opinions? Apparently, insulting Steve Jobs is ban-worthy now... I mean, it's not like he reported on a story being non-gadget related or saying that it's a slow news day (neither of which I'm doing, seeing as how I was banned once already).
@MormonJay: That implies that they have professional belt buckle collectors, and that's scary.

@Platypus Man: I believe there's a statement when you sign up for Giz that they're looking for quality commentary...
"(insert name) is gay."
"That is so gay."
"What a fag!"
Seeing such things in a person's running commentary (try clicking their name to see if they have a habit of this before defending someone here, usually they've done it repeatedly) is usually a good indicator of it not being good commentary, constructive, useful, and really it's just outright disrespectful to gays period.
It may be a free country, but this is a forum run by a private organization and they can ban, or unban, people for whatever reasons they like. Being quick to keep riffraff out isn't a bad thing, and bans are not usually permanent. One can apologize for one's behavior, and usually after a period of time you'll be unbanned. Consider it "Posting time-out".

I thought popped collars were invented by preppies about ten years before this picture was taken. Kept the sun off your neck while chatting to your sweetie with your Connecticut Lockjaw after a good game of tennis.
Besides. This was taken in Mountain View, Palo Alto or Sunnyvale in the early 80s, which had NO trendiness at that time. Even at ten growing up there, I knew we suxed.
