Sony's Bravia BDV-IT1000 All-in-One Blu-ray Home Theatre Experience
Posted by Sean Fallon at 7:23 AM on August 29, 2008
It was only a matter of time before Sony squeezed out an all-in-one Blu-ray home theatre system, and their new Bravia BDV-IT1000 seems to fit that void quite nicely. Some of the highlight features include: 700W of total power, slim speakers thanks to finger-sized full-range drive units, wireless rear speakers, two HDMI inputs and support for Dolby Digital Plus, TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. No word on a price or a release date, but I wouldn't doubt that this beauty will be stateside in the near future.

* Super-slim speakers made possible by finger-sized full-range drive units
* All-in-one home cinema system with integrated Blu-ray Disc drive

Even with those slim speakers, I think the chenster is gonna have a bit of trouble getting it all down his pants.

Are those speakers? They look like high tech blow darts.

All it needs is a "Neutralize Venom" setting.

Looks cool and all...but shouldn't those coat racks come with arms?

I'd be concerned with the directionality of the main speakers. Kneejerk assumption is that imaging would be terrible.

It sure doesn't take long for haters to hop on the hate bandwagon, huh? Anyways...
I think it looks really nice, esp with the wireless element, which makes it so much better. I just don't understand why it is said to be "upgradeable to Profile 2.0." Umm, the PS3 is already at 2.0, so why can't this ship at 2.0? I guess it might be due to the long process of planning the product to manufacturing and then shipping to retailers. If it's scheduled for fall release in Japan, there's a good chance it's already being made. At least it's upgradeable...

Yet another way to repackage that Pioneer player.

I can't imagine how speakers that narrow could possibly produce quality home theater sound with current speaker technology.
This thing probably costs about $2000, and for that price you could get a PS3, an Onkyo TX SR 606 receiver, and a set of SBS speakers and totally blow this system out, sound AND feature wise.

@robinandtami: Did you mean the SBS speakers from SVS? If so I totally agree. They would blow this system away at half the price.

This will probably sound just like their really really super mega small surround system. It's even got the same sub. It essentially sounds like a Bose system, but a bit worse.

How can it be "All-in-One" when it's not all (no TV) and it's not one (I count 8 pieces)? Please change the headline to "Most-in-Eight"

Apparently this uses a unique speaker technology although is does use a similar sub to the IS10 i.e. one that covers mid-range as well as bass
