I have had an elite for a little over a year. No RROD, however my DVD-ROM stopped reading discs about 1 month ago. They replaced it and I was only without my console for a little over a week. I believe that with the falcon chipset, the RROD problem has been greatly reduced.

well with the fact that newer games are going to take multiple dvd's such as rage and the new doom game plus ff13 they need to do something to keep interest of those that don't own one already since id has already said multiple disks plus compression is the unfortunate future of games on the 360 which means image quality is about to take a nose dive.

360 with Live is great, PS3 due to Blu Ray is nice. I love my 360 and the games are great!

hmm i thought on this site or another i saw a deal that Dell is selling the elite with forza and marvel ultimate alliance for $399.

i keep waiting for a price drop and then a new model and then a price drop of that model and also can't decide b/w a PS3 or 360 - at this rate i will never have a console.

@Mr.SithNinja: Yeah that's what I said in my original post - that Dell right now has a better deal on the Elite than the supposed September price drop.

But I wonder when the price drop happens if there will be any other coupons/bundles that will be better than the current Dell deal. Or if it will force PS3 to do a price drop even though they said they wouldn't. I shoulda just bought a PS3 when they had the $100 gift card on bluray drives deal a few months back.

Where is the free HD-DVD drive with every purchase?

It appears that Microsoft is well aware that they are beginning to lose ground to the PS3 sales and trying to price their system accordingly. That is a smart move, however I think they are underestimating the compelling nature of the Blu-ray drive. Yes, the real money is made on selling games, and the Xbox 360 is second to only the PS2 in that regard. Still, if their goal is to remain in second place on the number of systems sold for the years to come, I am afraid they may have to be a little more bold than this.

Given how many games are sold to Xbox 360 owners, why not sell the Elite system for $250?

i bought a 20 gb pro system about two weeks ago and honestly i wouldn't care much if they had another price drop because i would rather have my xbox 360 now when i can enjoy it for the rest of the summer than rather wait till school starts again in September
