Prospot Fusion Home Gym Combines the Tedium of Exercise With the Excitement Of Watching Things On a TV
Posted by Jason Chen at 5:20 AM on August 8, 2008
As you can tell by our headshots, the only way most of the editors here at Giz would exercise is if you stuck a TV onto gym equipment. Good news! That's exactly what Prospot did with their Fusion HG6. The base unit costs US$4699 and looks quite sturdy and useful on its own, but coupled with the on-board media centre features it's the rich nerd's only hope to getting in shape—other than sticking a regular home gym in the same room as a regular TV that is. At least you get to throw this whole thing out in 3 years when all HD systems are replaced by HD-3D.
Or you could plop your Bowflex in front of your 50" Hitachi today...
Just sayin'...

I have a treadmill and it's designed where I can luckily prop my notebook on it with out falling from vibration of running. I can put a movie on with headphones and do 6k. My only problem is finding good movies.

@steveyun: You obviously don't have the "I Am Rich" app on your iPhone.

Watching video while exercising is a pretty good idea. Personally, music doesn't do enough to distract me from the pain of exercising but I can play videogames or watch movies while exercising for hours.
Still, I just stuck my $150 exercise bike and my $100 weights in front of my TV. Why would I pay $4-5K for the privilege of having my TV built into my exercise machine?

Don't lie. You guys wouldn't exercise even with this horridly expensive contraption in your midst. I'm sure you consider exercise to be a good round on the pinball machine.

If you really want to work out on this, play a Richard Simmons exercise video. The weeping and convulsing will burn just as many calories as your reps.

Yeah, and how good is the service for the TV?
Me: The TV on this work out jigger won't tune the channel I want...
Them: Uhhh, have you tried adjusting the bench?
Me: What would that have to do with the TV tuning channels?
Them: Uhhh, have you adjusted the weights to an appropriate level for your strength?
Me: *Click*
