Police Officer Makes Drunk Driving Arrest On His Segway

You would have thought that the only way a police officer could have made a drunk driving arrest on a Segway was if the car jumped onto the sidewalk and slammed into one. However, an officer actually managed to chase down a drunken 18-year-old woman in a not-so-hot pursuit down the streets of Jackson, Michigan, recently.
It seems that the officer spotted the woman driving erratically down the road at around 65 kph but, instead of simply waiting for backup like any other wuss cop on a Segway, this brave soul decided to chase after her at a breakneck 19 kph. When she stopped her car, the officer caught up and made the arrest. So when they say "stopped" do they really mean "passed out" or "slammed into a telephone pole?" [Yahoo]

Is there video? Did the Segway have lights and sirens? Was she drunk enough to think it was an alien? Did the CHiPs theme song play through his head as he leaned forward to push it past the redline?

I'm from Wenatchee, WA. About twenty years ago, a drunk driver hit a curb or something that stopped his car. There was snow on the ground--the wheels kept spinning and the douche kept his eyes on the road and continued to steer the stationary car.
A cop pulled up behind him, got out of his car, and walked up to the driver's window. The driver looked left, saw the cop standing there, panicked and hit the brakes.

I have watched plenty of police tapes where law enforcement has pulled over people on scooters, segways, lawnmowers, etc..., but never the other way around. That is hilarious!

"Get you ass out of the car." That was the first thing an instructor told an entire class about being a beat cop. These guys work 10-12 hour shifts. A Segway is just another tool, and a good one. It's friendly. It's accessible. It places the cop slightly above the crowed, yet it isn't imposing. If the she/he has to go on a foot chase, there is no locking it up, they just hop off, the key goes with them and they are away.
By the way, Marin County, Oakland and S.F. bicycle cops are gods on wheels. Don't even think about trying to get away. They will hunt you down like Artemis and lay the smack down on you with the authority of Zuse.

@Bad Juju: Critical Mass rides are already escorted by motorcycle cops. My thought was that if they rode Segways instead of motorcycles, we could all get some laughs out of the resulting situation.

Hey ,,,, This really happened!!! And the cop deserves a medal!!!You have to be a brave person to have to go around Jackson at that time of night on just a sedway,,,Anddd she was sooo drunk,,,she stopped at the stop sign so he caught up with her,, there's nothing like a stupid drunk!!!! Instead of picking on the cop you should be thanking him, some of you sound dumber than the drunk..
