Optimus Maximus Keyboard Gets Coffee Bath, Apparently Survives
Posted by John Mahoney at 4:00 AM on August 2, 2008
It was only a matter of time. This image popped up on an Optimus Live Journal group, showing the sad results of a clumsy morning with a steaming mug and a US$1,600 Optimus Maximus keyboard, which is one place we didn't take our review--yet. Not much info on what happened or whether this was a planned test, but the poster says it survived the "first recorded coffee spill thanks to the construction of the upper tray." Phew. @Boter: I have a program to activate it. I got it in an email. I'll forward it to you. Yeah, just open it. It has to be safe, a Prince from Nigeria sent it to me.

I'd spell out "ooops!" on the keyboard. Then take the picture. Ha.

What was his coffee doing next to his $1600 keyboard? It should be in the built in cup holder like mine!!!!
What do you mean he doesn't have a cup holder? Even my laptop has a cup holder!

@UrIt: Actually, coffee has a higher concentration of caffeine than MD.
Mountain Dew contains 4.58 mgs of caffeine per fluid ounce.
Your average Coffee has about 13.44 mgs per floz.
Sorry for the bubble-bursting, but life is full of realities...

huuuuooma jesus!....
Probably would have said something like that.
Just before the coffee hit it.
Then I'd cry and take out another mortgage on my non existent home.

woooowwww.... but would it withstand Mountain Dew?
that's the true test, supercharged caffine.
and there's nothing like tilting your keyboard upside down and watching a steady stream of liquid coming out of it, and this usually happens a few hours before a deadline.

Ha!! Dumb shit. That's why you don't buy a keyboard that costs as much as a used car.

@SigmundTheSeaMonster: They probably thought of that and then realized there's only one "O" key. So it would spell "ops" <--not as funny.

If I had a keyboard that expensive it would be encased in a glass case, and food would be prohibited in my office.

@zerito87: Seriously! I'd have one of those gloveboxes - you know used for handling viruses and stuff between me, it, and my liquid refreshments.
