Posted by Sean Fallon at 3:45 AM on August 19, 2008
T-Mobile has confirmed that the first Android phone (dubbed HTC Dream) would be released before Christmas. While they did not give an exact date, all signs are pointing to October as the most likely month for a rollout to begin. [Yahoo]

@Carmen Sucks: Google might be the savior in this case. If they allow for a truly open platform, I might switch over to the Android OS. iPhone has great potential that is retarded by Apples tiny development team.

If this phone doesn't have capacitive touchscreen it will fail.

Love the obligatory "too blurry to tell" image. Classic.

I hate how all "leaked" shots are from cameras that have been sitting in tubs of hair product. For all we know that could be a menu at a japanese restaurant.

If some how they got the Look and Fuctionality of Android mixed with the Productivity and "Pocket PC" abillities of Windows Mobile..it would be all you need. As of right now it looks like Android could exsist along aside the rest without any impact until it matures maybe a year or 2.

This will give Apple some time to FIX everything wrong with the 3GiP. Iw ill be heading back to tmo if things with the reception, 3G and basic functionality do not pick up. Not sure why I left to begin with. OoooooooH wellll...

@Stacky Botrus: Apparently you haven't tried tmo's 3G. It's the laughing stock of 3G. They just don't have enough spectrum to handle their customer base and I don't see that getting fixed anytime soon. The fact the majority of their 3G is proprietary 1700mhz is going to affect them until they make the move to LTE, presumably behind AT&T and Verizon, if they don't get gobbled up before then.
