MIT Developing a Battery Half the Size of a Human Cell
Posted by Adrian Covert at 6:15 AM on August 24, 2008
MIT Researchers are working on virus-based microbatteries that are about half the size of a human cell. Using a combination of virus cultivation (which assembles itself) an soft lithography, Paula Hammond and team were able manufacture the battery, which consists of a cathode, anode and electrolyte. They hope the breakthrough will allow for applications like implantable medical sensors and labs that fit on a computer chip. [MIT via Good Clean Tech via PC World]

That image is not up to Gizmodo standards, but funny nonetheless.
It would be an amazing breakthrough if this was to work.

@Avizzv92: "Using a combination of virus cultivation (which assembles itself)" I expect they just die, then grow new ones, reproduce like a virus? i have no idea what im talking about, so i could be wrong (probably am)

Check your grammar/spelling. Gizmodo seems to have a problem with a/an. "An" precedes a noun with a vowel-sound beginning, such as apple, economic, or ironic. "A" precedes words beginning with anything other than a vowel, such as bridge, lamp, or window. Notable exceptions include words whose beginnings sound like a vowel in the original British tone, such as "History." "An Historical event" is considered appropriate, just like "An Heroic event." Let's get it straight guys. We're on the pinnacle of technical evolution, so let's not sound like country bumkins, y'all. (If I can get this in correct in any way at 2:22 AM post toiletus exodus, surely you and your editors can step it up)

@Aqualero: surely you are talking about the unfortunate phrase 'an soft lithography'. Well, you both are wrong. It does not have anything to do with 'a' or 'an' but it's rather an 'and' missing the 'd'. Whatever... Semantics over syntax. Another example why computers (still) suck at natural language.
