Jay-Z's Motorola Bluetooth Headphones Start East Coast/West Coast Rapper Headphone War
Posted by Jason Chen at 6:20 AM on August 20, 2008
Jay-Z's upcoming Bluetooth headphones don't look nearly as good as Dr. Dre's noise cancelling version, but their mere existence sparks a new East Coast/West Coast gadget war. We can't tell which we would prefer without looking at them, but Jay's model has the benefit of being smaller and wireless Bluetooth enabled, which is totally different from noise cancelling ones you use when you're on a train or plane. Our prediction is that Diddy will come out with a pair of in-ear buds sometime within the next six months. [FCC via Crave via Engadget]

It would be much more funny if the headphone company Jays was the one to release these

@Dunny0, Team T/A: In case you didn't get my sarcasm, here it is spelled out in terms you can understand: Only a douchebag would buy an iPhone or these lame ass headphones.

What gets me is that people will actually buy this crap just because they have a label on it. There are much better things out there...

That would explain the shooting in the portable audio section of J&R.

Diddy will sample these together with Dr. Dre's and make more money than both of them by exploiting their ideas.

Question is, who's idea will Diddy steal. Plus I don't think he has time due to the Burger King commercials he's working on. Seems he craves those whoppers pretty late.

@dwight-schrute: No, that's 50 Cent after NAS releases his version.

Actually, I'm pretty sure Diddy will see which ones sell the best, make the same thing, sell a few thousand less than the original, and claim victory.

Let's just hope that R. Kelly doesn't start marketing tiny in-ear gadgets.

@El Frijole: Except for the small fact that the iPhone doesn't do music over bluetooth.

While Dr. Dre's headphones are designed to be used as a grapnel for scaling buildings, Jay Z's are designed to be used as a bolo for entangling the police/some fool's legs when they try to step incorrectly.

It's been said that the Biggie/Tupac fued was started over Biggie going over Tupac's minutes on his Motorola StarTAC.

Those don't look like they will give good sound quality as they will be to lose on the ears.
Snoop Dog down here in the LBC, inspired by his protégé Dr.Dre, is coming out with some O.G. gangsta-lean head sets that make all your music sound immaculate ,... on weed!

@Rabid Penguin: R. Kelly's "gadgets" typically aren't used "in-ear", per se. Though he does encourage their use with the 13 to 18 year old demographic.
