It's a Windows Window! Get It??
Posted by Mark Wilson at 3:40 AM on August 20, 2008
The ultimate Microsoft fanboy concept, FenĂȘtres 3.1 (or the Windows Window as we're insisting on calling it) is a normal house window decorated with all of the accouterments of the classic Windows 3.1 OS (along with the placeholder background from Windows XP). And yes, pulling down the blinds even brings up the dreaded BSoD. The designer truly thought of everything, except it's missing the boot disk you'll need to actually open the window or anything in it. [John Nouanesing via Unplggd]

No thanks. No accounting for taste is there. As a piece of art its more interesting than its practical application.

The blue screen is a subtle yet effective touch.

well, other than the background (which I understand is supposed to blend in with the "real" view out the window), that's just some funny stuff.

I just noticed that the blinds are pulled down by the right scroll-bar! Nice! But yeah that background is all wrong...

Bliss in the background? Concept FAIL right there.
I you're going to do it right, the wallpaper around the window should be egyptian/stone and there should be a wind-sock dangling from the frame.
That's it. I'm inventing a new superhero - ProgMan. Gets things done fairly reliably but crashes randomly if you ask him to do too many things.

As much as I would love to do this, since I changing the windows in the house for vinyl ones anyway (and the white frame would match perfect the with MS Windows' edges), my wife would kill me.
Damn...
Maybe the garage.... hummmm....

@OMG! Ponies!: The background I use now would probably not be good for a kid's room. It's a BSOD, with central figure of The Scream photoshopped into the center.

I think it'd be cooler if they replaced the window with a giant lcd monitor that ran Vista dream scene in the background.

@helldiver: Can it be Norton Commander themed?
Great.. but this would be truly epic if it had XP theme, and the outside was real, not just a poster.

What happens when Vista crashes your romantic view, or it gets stuck reverting back to that depressing desert sand dune background? This also reminds me of those touch screen games (which are really just big cell phone ads) they have in some Montreal metro stops.

OK, so you move the scrollbar thingie DOWNWARD, and something scrolls into view from the TOP of the screen? Isn't that backward? Microsoft quality...
