Installer 4 Beta For iPhone 2.0 Leaked
Posted by John Mahoney at 11:53 PM on August 4, 2008
The folks at InstallerApps claim that they've come across a leaked early version of Installer.app 4, the version that works with the iPhone 2.0 software. The download link works, but the installation process requires SSH and command line work to install and is apparently still an early rough beta. So, install at your own risk if at all, but it does match the screenshots we've seen and looks to be working in the video. [InstallerApps]

Cydia is more stable then Installer ever was before. I can't say anything for the new Installer because I have not been able to use it but Cydia has grown on me and I have no intentions on switching.

Not bshing but is Gizmodo going to continue making a new blog entry about every new update or "nice/cool" application that comes out for the iPhone? Getting pretty old.
If its a critical update or much needed app, then I wouldn't mind the reference or mention of it, but just about every single one? C'mon.

Wow... so now even the "illegal" iPhone apps are getting "illegally" released. Awesome :P

Does anyone know what theme he is using? It looks pretty sweet.
Also, i have no problems with Cydia, then again, I've never really used installer...

@dirtybird1977: Cydia? OMG I hate Cydia. It's annoying. I can't wait for Installer 4 and its multi-threaded goodness!

@faunaman: Giz should really have an apple offshoot blog.

I like Cydia as well, but I'm always happy to add a new source for applications.

@MadColombian: Other than the ability to batch/queue your installs, what makes installer app, on the 2.0 firmware, better than Cydia. I never used Cydia on firmware 1.1.4 or less, but on 2.0, it looks and feels pretty much the same.
Have those of you bashing Cydia ever used it on 2.0?
It's all not much relevance right now, isn't it? Not much in the way of 2.0 compatible software out there from the old installer.app crowd.

Oh my fucking god, that video was painful to watch and listen to. Besides that, it actually advertised how retarded you would have to be to even want to install this in it's current state. I'll wait, thanks.

I just got an iphone last week, and managed to put cydia on, but all I was looking for was to put usirius on. I never owned an iphone before, so i never had installer.app, but I believe that it is somehow linked to ispazio, which has usirius. But it seems like you can only get that on the 1.1.4. When installer.app 3 comes out, will I beable to get usirius at all? If so, do I download it from installer.app or do I download ispazio from installer.app and then get usirius? Any answers would be greatly appreciated. The only thing I don't want to do is downgrade my iphone to a 1.1.4. Thank you.

I just got an iphone for the first time last week, and I managed to install cydia, but all I have really trying to do this whole time is get usirius. I see that ispazio had it for the 1.1.4, but I am not sure if you get ispazio from installer.app ( I never had the old installer.app) or what. So will I be able to get usirius with installer.app? and if not, where would/can I get it from. he only thing I don't want ot do is downgrade from a 1.1.4 to a 2.0. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
