Wow, I should so use this in our annual Christmas cards for my wife and I, and try to convince my cousins that I'm trying to look rich and successful. No need to take steps to ensure it looks like an obvious sham, as you can see. What a stupid f-ing ad campaign.
Here's a clue, in the US, the sky is actually falling. No one can afford a frickin porsche/VW anymore. And even if they could, the extreamly high gas prices as of late has shaken peoples core beliefs enough that they are actually considering the moral, environmental, financial, and macro-economical implications of such a purchase (MPG wise).

@Curves: I rarely correct you, but while I agree with your overall point, this time I have to step in and correct you on the details.
a) Drug dealer's do not drive Porsches.
b) The local drug dealer definitely never drives a Porsche. He walks. Or Bikes. He is also likely between the ages of 11-24.
c) The regional drug dealer may be driving through the neighborhood to evaluate the territory (check to see if there is any competition, see who is selling and how is using, etc.), but he will most certainly not park in front of your house, and doubly-certainly will have out-of-state plates, which, along with it not being a Porsche, would also be an immediate give-away that you do not own a Porsche.
d) An exception would be made for the local small town meth lab. In this case, the car parked out front would actually belong to the property owner. But while the car might be parked out front, it would, nonetheless, still not be a Porsche and would more likely be a tricked out F150 or a camo-Hummer.

Anyone who saw that car parked out front would KNOW it was just your local drug dealer making a delivery (on consignment, of course).
That being said, I think I am going to start taking pictures of my house when my friends with hot cars (or bikes) come over.

"As you can see, a $100,000 sports car really classes up the joint"
You, good sir, are a skilled writer. I applaud your skills and give you hearty thanks for the chuckle you brought to my lips.
Might I add that truer words were never spoken; a $100,000 does, in fact, class up one's joint.

Somehow this is sort of an asshole move by Porsche...I mean, either you get one or you don't. Why tease yourself by making these pictures and leaving them around the house for your spouse to find when you know she will never let it happen.
Perhaps these pictures will find a place on the fridge, right over that stupid finger painting.

@92BuickLeSabre: We must have a better class of drug dealer here (small town). After he drops off the drugs, the drives a few blocks and parks said car in front of his law office. ;)

Or if the "desire" continues for many years, people who save up enough money or have enough credit will finally buy one to fulfill their longtime desire (typically during a mid-life crisis).

@doobiebros2two: This is marketing capitalizing on the "desire" concept. It wants to increase and perpetuate the individual's desire, whether they buy one or not. The price keeps it out of reach. Then they come out with lower cost models, as BMW did, to bring it reach just enough to empty customers' wallets as they have been driven by desire for many years. Now, you can share your "desire" and thus reinforce to your friend how desirable they are.
Good business marketing to me.

@zimstyles: I have to agree with what 92BLS said. Growing up on the west side of Baltimore taught me that the local or regional drug dealer doesn't drive a Porsche because it's tricky to not raise unwanted eyebrows. You usually have to get $100K+ cars from a reputable source. They usually pay straight cash for a car and try to disguise the purchase to not alert the powers-that-be.
When a local or regional dealer buys a truly expensive car ($100K+) as opposed to a $40-$60K car and making it flashy, they usually aren't around too much longer for one reason or another. They usually dissappear by the method you mentioned (a display of excessive stupidity) or someone eventually comes along and takes what they've got by force.

Still, the guy parking in front of the house? Not driving a Porsche.

Stupid. Why didn't they use shots of the car from standing eye point? You can't get the car to fit in the scene perspective properly unless you have a ladder shot of your house.
Not very sophisticated.

@92BuickLeSabre: I beg to differ
a. Drug dealers do drive Porsches and Ferrari's in fact if memory serves right there was a group of dealers moving drugs from Florida in exotic sports cars late at night doing some incredible speeds.
b. Dealers do park in front of the house... parking down the street for a drop just looks shady (case in point the suburbs)
