First Official Nikon D90 Images and Specs Leak
Posted by John Mahoney at 5:37 AM on August 26, 2008
Nikon Rumors and Neutral Day have more on the D90, well, mostly just these product shots being touted as "100% legit." That, and a few more "official" specs--12.3 megapixels, movie mode (still no resolution confirmation), 3" LCD, an ISO range of 100-6400 and 11 AF points (same as the D80). The confirmed AF-S 18-105 mm f/3.5-5.6 VR lens is not a big one, so the body is looking nice and compact here. The shots seem to match what we've already seen (the added GPS-in there on the bottom), all coming in at US$1300, so yeah, looks like bona fide D90 release is just a few days away. Hit the jump for a few more angles, and check out the rest of the shots over at: [Nikon Rumors, Neutral Day]

The shot you guys showed is with the 18-55vr, the 18-105vr is a good bit bigger then that lol

Still waiting for a cheaper full-frame sensor. The D700 is nice but still to expensive in my books.

I think "iso range 100-6400" is a worthless note unless we have some information on the amount of noise. A firmware change in any dslr could allow ISO 25600, but that doesn't necessarily mean it won't look like crap.

Smaller form factor? Isn't that what the D60 is for?

Movie mode on a SLR? What's the point? Does it come with a zoom microphone too?!

@Jkuhn: looks like only the top image is 18-55, identical to the d60 kit. the remaining shots look like it could be 18-105.
@med: ISO range is 200-3200 w/lo1 (100) & hi1 (6400) according to nikon rumors. willing to bet the 3200 will be comparable to the d300 but 6400 will be noisy as hell. still an improvement over the d80's 1600 w/hi1 (3200).

@D0rk: Don't hold your breath. FX sensors will not get cheaper for quite a number of years. Part of it has to do with manufacturing, part of it has to do with marketing, but bottom line is it won't happen and you better shell out for a 35mm sensor.
@med: Ssh, there-there, here's your high blood pressure medication and a DVD of a live fishtank with soothing bubbling noises. Would you like some herbal tea? Noise information and other image testing comes with reviews. This camera hasn't been released. Now take a nap for a few days and maybe those reviews will be out by then!

i wonder what just the body, or 18-200 kit will be priced at. I just got a D300, but am thinking of returning it for this. Looking forward to the press release on Wed (supposedly).

d300 smokes this.... the AF alone is worth it IMHO
why would you want this?

@endless: The D60 'smokes' the D40, the D90 'smokes' the D60, the D300 'smokes' the D90, the D700 'smokes' the D300, the D3 'smokes' the D700, the D3x will 'smoke' the D3, and the Hasselblad H3DII-50 will 'smoke' the D3x ...
So whay would anybody want anything except the Hasselblad H3DII-50???
Wait a second! There seems to be a trend here ... whoah! Good call buddy, we'll call your theory ... "Price Points".

@Noobs-R-Us: smaller form factor? Go buy a D60 .... smaller than that in an SLR you're gonna need to switch to a four-thirds sensor.
Fat chance on Nikon bothering with that format so you're looking at Leica, Panasonic, or Olympus.
