Calvin and Jobs Kick Steve's Nuts
Posted by Jesus Diaz at 8:51 PM on August 6, 2008
I don't know if comic strip genius Bill Watterson would like this version of his worldwide-beloved Calvin and Hobbes/Jobs--who morphs from philosophical tiger to killer CEO--but we approve. Actually, it made me laugh and wish for new strips. The drawing may not be as good as the original, but Jobs' physique and attitude feels absolutely spot on. Update: another series after the jump.

can you please supply a link? your side adds are blocking the right frame.

Glad I'm not the only one having that blocking problem.
If you click on the Flickr link under the second pic you will be able to see the whole thing.

Yeah the right ad frame blocks wide pics for me as well and has ever since the new website. As a workaround, just right-click & copy the image then paste it into another image viewer.
This problem happens in Firefox but seems to work fine in IE.

I'd pay for a comic book app with a 'fake steve' series of comic strips. This little cut from the whole strip is pretty funny.

Jobs sounded like the white guy from the Boondocks episode where Riley was spray painting houses...at least thats how I heard the voice here...That sort of soft spoken older white guy, but if you f*ck with him, your gonna get hurt...And it made for a mildly amusing morning.

For all the venom, there is a truth to the humor. That's funny and eye-opening at the same time. It's the way C&H have been since about the beginning. I dig it, and hope the real Jobs can take a little bit to heart.

@92BuickLeSabre: Echoing...exactly. Regardless of possible copyright infringement, Watterson would probably had a good laugh at this, I sure as hell did. Perhaps his dad could be Ballmer?
On another note, I just noticed at Barnes & Noble last week the $150.00 boxed collection of "The Complete Calvin and Hobbes". Quite a hefty tome, and a hefty price too. I hope Watterson gets a good chunk of those proceeds... Damn. Now I have to pull out my old C&B's and start reading them again.

This is good parody.. not up to par with the original, but probably not meant to be.. i still think it's captured a bit of the "feel" of C&H without being a disgrace to it.
It's certainly a way better use of the property than those Calvin pissing on stuff bumper stickers...
Those that adorn their vehicle with that bastard son redneck car badge should be burned alive... or at least ousted from society to the nether..

Mildly amusing, but C+H is sacred to me, and this strikes me as something that might offend Watterson. He hated people who lifted images from his strip for other purposes. I believe he used the words "vandals" and "thieves" to describe such people in the 10th Anniversary book. Yeah, mildly amusing at best, but somewhat bad taste, imho. Props to Watterson for defending his creation from these sort of people for so long. I love C+H...

Yes it is from MAD Magazine, but not July. It's from the current issue. I'd like to give credit to the writer and artist of that Calvin and Jobs satire. It was written by Jacob Lambert and drawn by Gary Hallgren. It's from a two page spread in the current issue of MAD Magazine. Yep, the same issue that has the Sucker City Ad in it. The one that caused so much concern and then repentence from the folks at Circuit City.
