Blockbuster Online Having Mailing Issues As Well?
We just received a tip from reader Michael that Blockbuster online has been having shipping issues with their movies as well. Netflix's recent outage was settled in about three days, but Michael's problem has been ongoing for the last four business days. When he called a customer service rep, they said Blockbuster's shipping centre were having an "allocation issue", and many other customers have been complaining.
Our own account looks fine—we were shipped something on Monday and Tuesday of this week—but that's just anecdotal. Our own call to Blockbuster communications to check on the situation went unanswered. How does yours look? Keep in mind that you not getting something shipped in a timely manner could also mean they're throttling your account, which is especially true if you've been shipping stuff in and out really fast lately. In the KC area I am having some trouble. They received the previous movies on Tuesday and are just sending out the replacements today (Friday). It doesn't sound like I have it as bad as some folks, though.

I am not having problems. I did finally get the top movie in my queue. I had been waiting on that one for months. So gues they bought more movies.
Maybe this is a NF planted story so BB will look as bad as they do.

I'm having major issues with Blockbuster online. I sent 2 movies back last week on the 3rd, they received them on the 5th. Then, I get an email the same day they received them saying they had sent a movie to me, problem was that they just received that movie back. So, even though it was not in my queue, and I already watched it, they thought I needed to see it again! Anyways, I emailed them about it and they fixed it. But, I'm still having problems because they haven't shipped anything new yet. They usually send one out the same day they receive them. This is getting very annoying!!

Starting about three weeks ago, end of August, they changed their
allocation program so that if they find a WAITing DVD they STOP
looking even if you haven't gotten your full shipment (means that
you CANNOT PUT WAIT DVDs on top or you will wait up to FIVE DAYS
before they then WILL look further down the queue. What I hear
is that Mon/Tues they STOP after finding a WAIT DVD, Wed/Thur
they will look a few DVDs further down for an AVAILABLE title
and FRIDAY they will do what they always did before, which is
look up to 35 DVDs down looking for an AVAILABLE title.
UNFORTUNATELY, since I'm an 'extreme' user, returning DVDs to the
store the same day I get them and the post office only takes 1
day to get them to me, they do this to me:
1) Since Nov 2007 STOPPED mailing to me on MONDAYS, NEVER ONCE!
2) Even with 40 AVAILABLE titles ON TOP, they send 1 DVD wed and
the other 2 DVDs Friday, every week now. Complaints get me
coupons and free weeks (6 weeks so far in the last month,
and I just got another offer for another week today). This
requires COMPLAINTS and more COMPLAINTS, I'd rather get my
DVDs!

I had them take 3 days to send me a new movie. However the top of my Que was filled with stuff that was either unavailable or on very long wait. I moved two items that were listed as "available" to the top of my que last night, and this morning they shipped my movie to me.

three of my movies shipped yesterday. and i haven't had any problems with mailings. they are faster for me than netflix and they still carry hd dvd so thats why i stick with bb.

Let's see if they match Netflix with a 15% discount (which was more than I thought they would do). My movies actually came in 3 days, unlike the usual 1 day. But I wasn't planning on watching them during those days anyway...
Oh, the Blockbuster envelopes are a bit too convoluted IMHO. They could simplify them to save on paper. I only joined them once to get 3 free movie rentals. Quit after that hahahaha.

My netflix issue still isn't solved. They said they shipped out my DVD and it would arrive Wednesday. Well it's Thursday and still no DVD.

I had the exact opposite, in fact - I got a 4th movie I did not yet deserve, 2 days after getting the 3 that replaced the ones I turned in at the store 2 days before that. So far no problems, though I am a little confused at how I got an early one. It's like they knew I was going to turn those 3 in today...

Maybe someone or some people are jamming the sorters? I don't know how that Peanut Butter n' Jelly sandwhich got in there...
What'd be more hilarious is if they were doing it for financial gain by shorting the stock.

No problems here, either. Sounds like a fairly limited outage.
We've been with BB.com for about 3 years now and, except for the price increases, we've been totally satisfied. Being able to rent two games each month for free is a nice bonus that Netflix doesn't offer. Same with being able to walk down to the store on the corner, hand them the three mailers I just watched, and trade them in instantly for three new in-store movies. And then get new ones in the mail, too (so I have 6 out at once). If I only had more time to actually watch them all.

i'm still having issues with my netflix account. usually a two day turnaround, mail monday morning, get dvd wednesday. this week, mail dvd monday morning, get no dvd yet...

The Philadelphia hub has slowly been getting slower over the past 2 months. Used to be very quick turnarounds, but now is taking a week+ to check a return and send out new requests.

love that I can take the movies back to the store and get new ones to hold me over if there are any issues like these

No problems in the Metro DC area from what I can tell (from myself and friends nearby).
Got the first two disc of the Terminator SC series season 1 last night.

i have been with BB for more than 1 yr. also used netfilx for about 6 months with netflix could not get the movies i wanted. no problems with BB, ever! checked with a family member that works for the BBB and she said netflix has 10 complaints to blockbusters 1, you do the math.
