BlackBerry Javelin Live Comparison Shot: More Svelte Than the Curve
Posted by Matt Buchanan at 3:00 AM on August 15, 2008
We've seen some nice renders of the BlackBerry Javelin, but it's hard to get a sense of size from them. So, here's a shot of it in between the Curve (which it'll probably be replacing) and the 8800. While it's just about the same height as the Curve, it's definitely smaller and thinner—which means it's way tinier than the Bold too, since it's one of the larger devices has RIM put out in a while. With Wi-Fi and GPS, Javelin's looking like a solid follow up to the Curve. [Howard Forums via Crackberry]

The OLPC article's link is broken, it just sends you back to the main page. FYI

I heard in September for AT&T users. For us Canucks it will be next week (the 19th) I believe so I am pumped.

Wow. The Javelin makes the beautiful Curve look like an outdated calculator.

Looking at it, it looks like the javelin is the new hotness.

Very nice. I currently have the Curve and love it. Making it a teeny bit smaller only helps in my opinion. I also have the pre-GPS model so that would be another bonus when I decide to upgrade.

Any possibility of a CDMA/EVDO version of this (for Canadians to avoid Rogers)? It looks pretty sweet.

Why Blackberry ever went to the keyboard installed on the 8800, I'll never know. The keyboard specs/layout/design on the Curve, and now apparently on the Javer are still the best. I have yet to met someone how likes the 8800 keyboard. It blows.

@: You're an idiot. The Blackberry 8830 World Edition is both CDMA and GSM. Do some research.

@Brandson: Waiting for a CDMA BlackBerry is like waiting for the Easter Bunny. So it's gonna be a while.

BTW the first price here has been seen is set to 399 on contract, though there have been changes made in price at rogers which delayed the thing in the first place apparently. Now people are saying 299 to meet the high end iPhone price. We probably won't know for sure until Tuesday.

The last I had heard for AT&T it was in September, but I could easily have been wrong, as it was just rumoured last I heard. However, my friend at Rogers is saying the 19th for the Bold here. I am trying to get a hold of my friend at RIM but they just ship to the carriers, and the carriers release when they want half the time.
