Art Lebedev's Folderix Finger Folder Flash Drive On Sale
Posted by Sean Fallon at 8:50 AM on August 23, 2008
We got our first look at the Folderix folder-shaped USB drive from Art Lebedev when it was in the concept phase. It took over a year to bring to market (that's Lebedev for you), but it appears that they took that time to subtly streamline the quirky little drive. You can pick up a 4GB now in yellow, blue or purple for US$55. [Art Lebedev via Electronista]

I'm not seeing the part where the USB connector slides handily back into the housing...they didn't forget to do that, right?

Cute, but apparently I can get one with 16 times as much storage, for twice as much. I'll pass.

This was too cheap or had too much storage I guess?

@macegr: yeah, ever since this was released, I've thought it was clever but a retracting connector would be better - if they wanted to really push the boat out, then the connector should be slid in and out by opening or closing the folder.

What's up with the funky design on the USB tab when all they need is four little strips of metal?
@Step666:
Agreed, but the simplest option would be to slide the folder tab from one side to the other.

@Purple Dave: true, that would be simpler but I figured the whole opening/closing thing was more in-keeping with the ethos behind the design.
