Question of the Day: What Do You Use to Clean Your Screens?

A big, bright, beautiful screen is a great thing–but keeping it smudge and dust free can be annoying to say the least. This is especially true with touchscreen phones and other portable media devices. With that in mind, I came up with a two section poll that involves larger screens like monitors and televisions on one side and smaller screens like mobile phones and handheld game systems on the other. But both ask the same question: how do you clean your screens?

Weird Combo of the Day: Bottle Of Wine With Free Pedometer

Once again, we revisit our old friend Weird Combo of the Day. Today we’ve got a bottle of Red Cliffe Sauvignon Blanc, which comes with one free pedometer with purchase. Pedometer? Because you want to count how many steps it takes to walk to the bathroom after you’ve downed that bottle? We’re confused too. [Thanks Darren!]

USB Pole Dancer V2 Performs As You Type

Not only is this second generation USB Pole Dancer actually worse looking than the first, you actually have to DO SOMETHING to make it perform. The anime-like eyes really makes this version much, much more creepy than the first, as if child labour laws don’t apply to the plastic USB world. Nevertheless, US$22 makes her/it yours. 10 Years of the iMac: A Visual History

Tens year ago today, the original Bondi blue iMac went on sale. In more ways than one, it marked the rebirth of Apple into the one we know today and the dawn of the Jobs + Ive era. Not a bad legacy. To celebrate, here’s a visual history of the iMac through ads, starting with one of the original Jeff Goldblum-narrated commercials, which somehow even seems smarmier in retrospect. Which design was your favourite?

In the same vein as our “iPhone Apps We Like” posts, take a look here at what stood out this week–notable for usefulness, novelty, birthing a child, whatever. Let’s spend some iTunes credit.

120 Dell Engineers Aiming Guns at Apple and Recruiting World to Help

A few weeks ago we ran a rumour that Dell was working on a new PMP–no biggie, really. Are people really trying to top the iPod at this point? But Business Week has uncovered more of the story from “multiple sources.” Apparently Dell’s manoeuvring isn’t about hardware at all (or that much, at least). It’s about their iTunes-like software from recently acquired company Zing.

Senseo Latte Select is Frothing for Coffee

I know people like the Philips Senseo coffee pod system–I’m a snob and refuse to try it–so just for you folks, Philips is releasing a new version of the Senseo that can make froofy milk drinks, too. Called the Senseo Latte Select, it appears to be identical to the old Senseo but now features a new milk compartment that can whip up cappuccino, latte macchiato, or cafe latte on request–plus that milk compartment can be cleaned “with the touch of a button.” Coming to Europe this September for about US$280, you’ve gotta make a lotta latte to pay it off.
