Yahoo! Music Store Will Compensate Customers For DRM-ed Music
Posted by Gizmodo US Edition at 8:30 AM on July 27, 2008
Yes, Yahoo! Music Store's shutting down their DRM servers, but Big Purple's said that it'll definitely still be taking care of its customers. According to a Yahoo spokesperson, anyone who bought DRM music from the store "will be compensated for whatever they paid." No word on timetables or what form the compensation will take, but possible options include cash back or an un-DRMed MP3 version of the same track. [Information Week]

DRM sucks, it doesn't work, and needs to be terminated.

If you go to their website, one of the compensation options is a square dancing lesson from Jerry Yang. Huh?!? How is that compensation?

@meropealcyone: I don't really get why people would be so pissed, wouldn't you be happy if itunes suddenly went under, and gave you all your tracks drm free, or reimbursed you? that would seem like a better deal anyway.

A system that requires as much support and backup like DRM would of never worked - people weren't buying a copy of the SONG they were buying the limited right to listen to it and thorough marketing and limiting the people's options I guess it worked (iTunes).
I read this article about this website [WWW.JUSTHEARIT.COM] - they said they'll be changing the music industry forever and I think they're backed pretty strong...lookin forward to it

when buying music, I check for iTunes Plus first, if they don't have it, I buy from Amazon Mp3. And if they don't have it, I buy the CD.

Yeah, I have my whole family on the watch for DRM now. Even my 80 year old father knows what to look for and avoid.
DRM manufacturers... your days are numbered when older people are becoming wise to your bullshit. Cut it out please.
