Hmm...I'm not sure whether I like this or not. It's like Cover Flow meets the Mii Channel. It also kind of annoys me to see all that wasted space there. The white background is so boring. Hey, here's an idea Microsoft! I know our gamer pics are dead, but let our themes live on! It would be cool if you could select a theme just like you can now, but only one picture at a time would be the dashboard background and they would alternate every 30 seconds or so. Either that or just let us use them like now. One picture assigned to each...they're not called blades anymore, are they? Um...one picture assigned to each section of the dashboard.

The additional functionality looks awesome, but the UI looks like the most annoying piece of s*it I don't want to look at. After reading the E3 MS Coverage post here on gizmodo... I realized there are a few new cool features of the dash, like the "party feature" where you can romp around XBL with your buddies without having to endlessly find eachother to talk or play...

That being said... its still ugly, and I would agree that I preferred the old gamer pix to the avatars. Microsoft, we buy your junk because you seem to understand publishing quality games to your platform - not for your ability to copy the trendy BS made to counter your superior game selection.

@squish123: Agreed with the GUI part. Personally, I like the old system and I don't really see why they want to change it. There just seems like there's so much wasted space and I can't imagine that it would be very fun to look at on a small TV.

Oh, and I don't see why they think it's a good idea to copy the Mii. I mean, yeah, it worked with Nintendo and the Wii, but even that wore of pretty quickly and it doesn't exactly seem to fit the Xbox audience. I'm sure all the 11-year-olds who play Halo and call everyone gay are just going to love making their Mii-60.

This new upadate will kill the console for me, and probably alot of other people. Just like the Wii the Mis look tacky and uninspired. Why would anyone want to copy that software?

I love my themes and gamerpics, especially since i paid for them! I want a refund for all that money ive now spent on something useless.

I know Ms wont listen because they are heartless bas****s. The only reason they are doing this is be cause they're bored. And the dashboard is slow as it is, this new (Seemingly Memory Hungry) UI WILL make things worse.

Ya know, I didn't need another Mii. I really didn't, but I like the other visual bits of the UI. I'm much more exicted about the new games and Netflix coming to XBL (since apparently they don't want to make their site compatible for any of the browsers I use).
