What the Hell is Going On in Potters Field?
Posted by Adam Frucci at 3:30 AM on July 20, 2008
These photos, taken from a Flickr set, show what appears to be some sort of crashed spacecraft in London's Potters Field. They offer no explanation as to what's going on over there across the pond. Do any of you know what this is? Movie shoot? Publicity stunt? Photoshoppery? Actual alien invasion? Let's hear your guesses, both educated and uneducated, in the comments. Update: It's an ad for a new car. Boo.

It's from a Dr. Who episode, aired in Australia a while back.
Yes it is part of an alien invasion where they take over the government (now your worst fears have been confirmed)and we may end up with intelligent politicians.

Publicity stunt for sure. Any movie with the budget to actually film there I'm sure would choose not to, not to mention the low quality of the effects and the public display.

Initially I thought it may have something to do with filming an episode of Torchwood, due to the relatively low-tech looking special effects/props (I still love it and Doctor Who), and the guards who try too hard to look cool....
Following someone's link there was a mentioning of a publicity campaign for a new car range, so don'know...
But man they need to work on the quality of their props... it looks as if someone freshly took it out of the studio with a fresh paint rather than something which supposedly crashed landed.

Not a real alien invasion, it's a publicity stunt/art installation.
My opinnion is that the crash crater is quite clean for something which plummeted through the earth's atmosphere.
Second is that a ship like that would of cracked releasing its engine fluids into the ground. As a result there is risk that the fluids will leach into the river or other surrounding ecosystems. As a result an enviroment agency should be working to clean up.
Also more effort than metal fencing would be used to hide alien craft from the public, since aliens aren't really part of our normal day to day life.

From the looks of it, it's anything but real. If it was from the atmosphere the impact would have been different on the ground (unless it was only a about 1000 feet in the air), if it came from underground it wouldn't be so clean. Did anyone else notice that the Sphere in the middle is off center. like a poorly built prop
