Vintage Time Travel Posters Shatter Space Time, Harken Back/Forward to Our Favourite Epochs
Posted by John Mahoney at 7:10 AM on July 18, 2008
Dave Eggers' temporally advanced Time Travel Mart in LA ("whenever you are, we're already then!") just released a fantastic poster set that takes on the look and feel of old Pan Am travel ads to hype several of the historical eras we'll all be hitting in our future DeLoreans--Pangaea to run with the dinos, Tokyo 2.0 where binary is the official language, and so on. LA Artist Amy Martin is responsible, and like everything else in Eggers's novelty shop empire (pirates and super heroes also have their own outlets), the US$20 goes to writing workshops for kids. Me want. [826LA Online Shop]

Hmmm, I mixed. I REALLY hate those old travel adds, but the idea cool... though not sure I can handle the creepy feeling it brings.

Definitely want.
$20 a piece and $90 for all 5 isn't a bad deal at all.

I'm a fan of Dave Eggers's works (literary and social) but these are kind of boring. I like the idea, and think they look nice, they're just kind of... well, boring, like I said.

I'm a professional poster designer who works in a vintage-y style. These are great and I love 'em! I dig the binary one and love the composition/colors of the space one. Fun work with a good sense of humor!
I usually don't toot my own horn on non-art blogs but since this is a vintage style poster related post, here's my work if anyone is interested. [www.campsteve.com]

Eggers - you listening? Start putting the in-store items on the online store... I will drop $100, promise.
(Or start stocking the crap at Superhero Supply Store...)

I thought these were just new WALL-E posters when I saw these out of the corner of my eye, they might want to make them stand out a bit more! Gotta go bug my friend Dan to take his replica time machine down there sooner or later, I know he'd get a kick out of it.

Yeah...the idea of riding past a herd of wooly mammoths on a saucer sled is actually the most amusing to me.

@chopstickhero: Shouldn't that poster's first line read "Get to know Tokyo 10.0"?

OK, I'm heading over tomorrow. Can't miss this. I was jealous when NYC got the superhero store - and I hadn't heard about the pirates one. Will be in SF in Aug so I'll have to check it out.
