@Maksimir: First of all, Iran has a problem with the US anyway, aside from having a problem with Israel. But even if it didn't we have to be involved because the US keeps Israel's hands tied for a variety of reasons. Israel could kick Iran's ass on it's own -- they fought off 9 Arab countries in the Six Day War, and today they have better weapons and intelligence people -- but then the whole region would end up engulfed in war.

We get a lot of technology from Israel. AMD and intel have huge R&D facilities there. We also get a good chunk of middle-east intelligence from them 9their intelligence agancy is considered to be better than ours), which is kinda important since aside from us needing oil, the middle-east has own much of the US at this point (for exmple, an Abu Dahabi group just bought the friggin' chrysler Building).

In any case I thought illpacin0's first Iran Photoshop attempt [i36.tinypic.com] was pretty good.

I too have met many Middle Easterners and Muslims which are nothing like the terrorists out there. The ones I've met are very polite and accommodating so I definitely hope a peaceful solution could be found to all this saber-rattling. I only met one Kuwaiti once that used to get a little loony whenever the word Jewish or Israel was mentioned. But then again, it was probably because his own wife was Jewish - go figure :)

While, it can be be seen as a show of strength, even most Israelis today agree that starting that war resulted in disaster. Israel created crazy extremists (read: settlers) of its own in addition to dealing with the issues that arose from the ethnic cleansing of the indigenous population of the country that it colonized. Further, given the struggle that Israel had dealing with Hizbullah fighters, instead choosing to destroy the civilian population of its neighboring country, it is not so clear that war with Iran would be a walk in the park.

I totally just made this 1/4 scale diorama of a zombie Saddam Hussein dressed like Michael Jacksons's Thriller leading an army of dancing Lebanese prostitutes across the Tigris while waving great standards stamped with the silhouette of Osama Bin Laden and it was all made out of mashed potatoes and delicately but precisely placed sausages but my camera totally got borked right before my crappy SuckPad literally started smoking and melted into this black plasticy ooze that smelled like bone marrow & dmt. And then my cat messed it all up.
