Twist and Squeeze Remote Concept Requires Two Hands
Posted by Jason Chen at 8:43 AM on July 3, 2008

Jason Kline's gesture-based remote looks cool, but might not be practical for everyday usage. You adjust the volume with the left knob and the channel with the right, but there's no place to enter in buttons. It does allow you to keep going with the knob turning concept of old time TVs while still allowing you to be lazy on the couch. Not that we'd ever use it, but it might be a decent concept for octogenarians who still miss the old days. [Yanko Design]

@Playstation: Wait... you have to hold down a button and then hit another button to change the channel? Really?

I just told my friend that I was about to throw away my TV remote because I have to use my other hand to hold the Cable button to switch channel.
I don't see this is for me, I hate using both hands to operate a remote. But if that's something like a touch screen, I'd consider one.

Two handed operation is the exact reason I took back the Logitech Harmony 1000.
YUCK!

There's nothing wrong with this product! It's just extremely niche. Like, for Tron Guy only. Very limited run.

Leaping to the easy ass-umption that "Licentia" is derivative of 'licentious' (sexually unrestrained) then the whole 'two hands' thing makes perfect sense (or should I say 'sence'?)!

@Stem_Sell: "Licentious" rolls around in your mouth like a steamy pile of horny. This device on the other hand is purely banal, which clogs the throat, which brings out asphyxiation, which can be equally sexy, depending on what you are into.

@Dynasty: I do believe that is actual size, but the picture is deceiving. It's a practice in the art of perspective. It looks like its' slightly smaller than your average volleyball, but look at it's size in relation to the (apparent) coffee cup which is sitting a few inches away at the edge of the frame. It's still rather large if it's as big as a coffee cup though...seeing as how it doesn't have all those buttons, it should be much smaller. Perhaps the size of the old TV knobs it harkens back to?
