This Giant Slip 'N Slide Looks Way More Fun Than Work
Posted by Mark Wilson at 5:20 AM on July 22, 2008
We love our jobs here at Gizmodo. But every once in a while even we find something more interesting than the latest breakthroughs in USB-powered humping animals. Impossible, you say? Not when it comes to a gigantic homemade Slip 'N Slide. It's tough to scale the slides' exact size, but it looks to drop a solid two stories before depositing its riders in the lake. And boy oh boy does this video make us jealous.
But...is it bad that we were waiting/hoping for someone to get hurt? Not like, never walk again hurt--just a solid Jackassian moment with some good old fashioned grass burns. [geekologie]

But it's good to have William Powell back among us.
I'm not sure I understand your innuendo, but it makes my buttocks a bit clenchy. No offense.

A guy up here did that with a giant culvert. Ran plastic through the culvert and laid it up against a gravel hill. Hangs out over the water about 10' too, so you get a nice drop at the end. Not sure what he did about the ridges on the culvert to smooth them out.

gravity is a law, AND a toy!!! (no rube goldberg machines without it)
friction is your friend, just not too much (so sayeth the girlfriend)
the only thing that would make this thing more cool, would be a aircraft escape ramp coming off a deck to get ya really moving before the hill portion

Awesome, although I can see myself getting very hurt. We have one and my daughter waits until I'm standing in the middle of it before she launches down it with all the force a six year old can muster. Basically it's bolling, with me being the only pin. I'm going to pee on it next time.

If you notice on the slip-n-slide box it says not for use by adults. That's because an adult can break a few ribs by belly flopping on the hard ground like that last dude did. Lucky he caught himself with his hands. Those first two had the right idea, me thinks. Fun!

So back in the day we built one of these before with drilling mud on the plastic sheets, and I totally did a head first dive, which was completely awesome until my chin hit the ground.
Luckily I was properly anesthetized with alcohol, but I've always been wary of jumping face first at things since then.

Wonder what they used to make the slide with. But looks dope as hell. I once got on a cart on tracks like a roller coster that has an old school faris wheel seat, so there is nothing to hold you in. It did a sudden stop at the end of a cliff and slinged you out into a lake. That was fun as hell.
