It's the third birthday of Sony Ericsson's Walkman phone label, and to celebrate it's launching three new music-based mobile phones. The W302 and W902 (left, centre in the image) are both candybar handsets, with the 302 having an FM radio, and 2-megapixel cam, and the 902 with a 5-megapixel cam and apparently matching the high audio quality of the W980 phone. The W595 is a slide phone with built-in stereo speakers so users can "share sounds with their friends" (read: annoy passers-by with irritating tunes) but it also has twin jacks so you can share music privately. All four phones are quad-band GSM, have "shake control," come in a selection of colours and will hit the streets at the end of the year. Press release below, which also details some new accessories like wireless portable speakers.

SE's FINALLY getting the drift that America needs quad-band phones, too! Thank god, because up till now, I've had 2 different SE phones: one for the US and one for European travel.

My wife has a [en.wikipedia.org] for a while now and it's quad band. "FINALLY" in this case means 2 years ago, when the w300i was released? Look for the i models... those are international ones and more likely to be quad band. You might also check out phonescoop.com, which has a very nice phone finder, which includes world roaming and GSM 850 as search options.

Kidding!
I'll probably just get an older K550i or something. Mine's turned narcoleptic.

I hope these still have a flash for the camera that can be used as a really bright flashlight. I set a soft key to turn the 'flash' on and off, so my phone has an amazing flashlight on it and I think it is one of the best features ever on a phone. I like my w810, it is a good phone.

Never having had an SE phone that wasn't a piece of crap that failed after about 6 months (3 of them), I think I'll pass.

@eediebax: Wow, you have terrible luck! I've had 2 phones over about 2 and a half years from them--my SE W600i for a little under 2 years (my brother is still using it) and now I have a W580i, which until now is their newest slider phone. I really love their products, even with the proprietary memory card (M2).

@Djoyo: I can pretty much guarantee you the W595 doesn't, cuz my 580 doesn't. I really miss it, though--it was probably my favorite feature of my 600.

@raleel: Well yeah, I've had nothing but SE phones since my first one almost 8 years ago. I've essentially traveled along the T-series (T223, T610, T637), and then the K-series (K750i, K790a, K850i). The Walkman phones are the traditionally the ones that have had any semblance of Quad-band functionality, and even that has only been recent (also, the Walkman phones I find to be generally lesser quality than the other "high-end" phones). Yeah, they've had the W300i, W580i, etc, but they haven't had ANY high-end phones that fit the quad-band bill (K-series, P-series,etc.). Now with the W902, there's FINALLY a nice phone with quad-band. :)

Well i think that is no denial that they are just the same from the previous phones, but these phones seens to be more like budget phones, and for budget it's ok.
I'm glad that they stop using that joystick like 4 way controller.
