Samsung boosts its iQ with landmark FOXTEL HD+ Promo

Deluxe promotion brings HD experience to more Australians

SYDNEY, JULY 1, 2008 - Get ready to experience the true power of High Definition (HD) with the launch of a new promotional partnership by Samsung and FOXTEL. During July, customers who purchase selected Samsung Series 5 and 6 LCD Televisions can choose a bonus FOXTEL HD+ offer (includes full installation of the FOXTEL iQ2 set-top-unit and three months subscription to the FOXTEL HD+ service) or a top of the range Samsung BD1500 Blu-ray player.

This clever investment by Australia's largest HD content producer and highest selling Full HD Television manufacturer is being looked on by those in the industry as the biggest HD deal to date. In line with this, Samsung and FOXTEL have decided to extend the bonus FOXTEL HD+ offer across August as well.

"HD is the future and this exciting consumer promotion comes at a time when FOXTEL HD+ is brand new. Never before has so much HD content been available so we jumped at the opportunity to bring this partnership to life. We want to help consumers unlock the real potential of their HD TVs. Being able to record and playback your upcoming TV memories in HD is a very attractive proposition - especially with key sporting events airing in the coming months," said Kurt Jovais, Director of Marketing - Samsung Electronics.

"Samsung also wanted to provide consumers with a choice. How often do you watch TV? Do you want the ultimate viewing experience anytime you watch TV using FOXTEL HD+ or do you prefer to sit around the big screen enjoying movie nights on the Blu-ray player? Customers know what they want and this promotion is about listening to those demands," continued Jovais.

In another commitment to this strong partnership, Samsung's sponsorship of the top of the ladder Sydney Roosters will be modified for the month of July. The Samsung naming rights on the back of the Rooster's jersey will be altered to include a reference to FOXTEL HD+.

"This is a fantastic promotion that will give consumers buying selected Samsung HD LCD TVs the opportunity to experience the full benefits of HD television through the FOXTEL HD+ service and the FOXTEL iQ2," FOXTEL Executive Director of Content, Product Development and Delivery, Patrick Delany, said.

"This promotion is the start of a significant strategic alliance between FOXTEL and Samsung to lift the bar in awareness of HD television and the rich HD offering the FOXTEL HD+ service delivers consumers."

The FOXTEL HD+ service was officially launched on June 22 and provides a wide choice of 24/7 HD programming by featuring some of the biggest subscription television brands - BBC HD, Discovery HD, National Geographic Channel HD, FOX SPORTS HD and ESPN HD. Australian television premiere blockbuster movies are also available to watch instantly through the FOXTEL BOX OFFICE HD On Demand service.

This exclusive offer will be promoted in store and through retail channels with a highly visual display of the HD capabilities and promotion that Samsung is providing through use of the FOXTEL iQ2 set-top-unit and FOXTEL HD+ programming.

Samsung product has also been integrated into all FOXTEL HD+ advertising, promotions, training and informational materials, in addition to the FOXTEL HD microsite www.foxtel.com.au/hd and featuring at FOXTEL kiosks with the "FOXTEL HD+ recommends Samsung" tag line on key elements.

The web page you are supposed to go to has not been responding for 3 days now. Very frustrating. Even trying at obscure times of the night just results in the web page timing out
