Qik Video Streaming Goes To Public Beta, iPhone App Still Coming
Posted by Adrian Covert at 9:51 AM on July 22, 2008
Qik's video streaming service is now open to the public as a beta version to anyone with a 3G or wi-fi connection on their compatible Symbian or Windows Mobile Phone. Qik also told Venture Beat that they are still at work on an iPhone client, though they didn't address the possibility it would be rejected.
Qik video is streamed to a personalised Qik page, and can be pushed to other places, such as Facebook apps. Latency is as short as .5 seconds or as long a 3 seconds, and the service can now stream privately to select groups. Qik says they're intent is not to be a destination page, but be a conduit for content to appear places like personal blogs and Facebook. [Venture Beat via Electronista]

I don't see how it'd be rejected as there are a couple of video streaming apps on App Store already available.

Yea, I'll be crossing my fingers this won't be rejected. Man wouldn't it blow to put in the work on coding an app and have it just turned down...

My dad uses this with his E-90 - it's pretty sweet.

What I want to be able to do is, set up all my videos as 3gp on my PC, and use that as a server to stream it over 3G or WiFi to my iphone whenever I want.

@Stacky Botrus:
check out orb.com it puts a client on your PC thats lets you define what content on your HDD you want to share/stream. Then you goto your personal orb webpage by logging in on your device (ie cell phone or friends computer) and stream from your home PC.
