Panasonic Now Hoping For 40-inch OLED TVs Mass Produced By 2011
Posted by John Mahoney at 11:03 PM on July 29, 2008
Last month the projection was 37 inches. Now a more reputable Japanese paper, Nikkei, is reporting a 40-inch target being mass-produced and ready for retail in the same time frame. As always, Panasonic/Matsushita simply confirms that they're investing heavily into the tech and goes about their business. [AP]

Damn, that's thin! And the TV is pretty thin, too.

@hakubak: Don't you know that's how they make bigger TV's, they just go into Photoshop and zoom in.

I think I'll be gray and walking with a cane before I'll be able to afford a 52" to replace my current TV.

I call PhotoShop BS on this. I know I've seen that chick in that pose before. That, and the wall to the right seems off.

Two things I love: skinny models and skinny TVs

40"? I guess I'll have to wait till 2015 for a good 65" OLED.

@Hectorvex: I don't know why they spent all that time making them weigh less than an ounce. Seems like they should have had more important things to do.

what has this world come to? why is there such a huge fascination with jeans that it has even pervaded the model community? I remember the good old days when models wore bikinis. and it's sad, it seems like the models have to get thinner to match the TVs. uhh, not that i want to see particularly hefty girthy women advertising for some rear projection CRT monstrosity. ok, basically what i'm trying to say is, escalators + slinkies = neverending fun.

It's the perfect distraction, while her boyfriend comes up behind you and shanks you through the kidney. Oops, no more optional transplant.

Wow. That chick sure has some forearm muscle control. I know those things probably aren't heavy and that most likely isn't even a real TV, but she's still holding it up and straight and pulling off that ruffled shirt. It's magic I tells ya.

So hopefully I can watch Niburu in REAL colors when it passes by, wrecking havoc and mayhem to this world?

@macserv: "for a few months"
You mean "BY a few months."

OK, now Sony/Samsung needs to leapfrog this estimate for a few months.
And then Panny can come out with a 41" slightly sooner.
Repeat until I can buy a 60" OLED next week.
