ok this may sound really dumb...
if you buy the 16G for $849 and then pay another $80 to get it unlocked...do you just then put you other sim card in (my three sim) and then just keep going on the plan im on with three but using the iphone?
sorry for the stupid question, dont really understand what they mean by 'unlock' and what the does.

Hi guys,

I just got off the phone with Optus sale and was so mad !!!! I am in a contract with Optus for 24 months (12 months left) and paying $86 for call and the headset, not to say that I've been with them for 3 years.

The whole idea to call them at this stage is to make sure I had 1 Iphone to pick up at Optus shop which is close to my working place on the 11th without explaining the situation that I am in. And the Indian saleman told me "U will have to terminate our current contract and pay the cancellation fee - $550 and sign up a new plan to get IPHONE" even I tried to tell him that i've been paying bills ontime, loyal to Optus for that long and willing to extend my contract to 2 more years.

Well, OPTUS + APPLE = F&(*^*Heads, i will never sign anything with Optus again!!

Buried deep in the fine print is the cancellation costs. Read that part very very carefully before signing. It will cost you more than the cost of the iphone outright if you choose to cancel early.

for example:
If you are on an optus $59 cap plan over 24 months, and decide to cancel within the first 12 months, the cancellation fee is $840. $9 more and you could get a brand new 16gb iphone outright.

Seems ludicrous to me.

Pretty much what I expected.. actually, slightly cheaper than expected..

Pity there's no $30 Plan, (it's a big jump between $20 and $50 plans) that's what I'm on now and it's about right for my usage.

This is awful. I am one of those “power users” and I WILL use more than 1Gb online. I am extremely unhappy that I cannot go over without being really stung. Optus! You are losing me and all my company phones, too. You needed to get some savvy marketing going on this – you could have been the best, but you’ve chosen to be “the rest”…

(Sigh) Telstra, offer me a 2 or 3 Gb plan and here I come.

What a rip off! Come’on Optus. Provide us with some REASONABLE data plans or pre-paid data for those who already have pre-paid accounts. That way people can have pre-paid voice calls – not the turbocharge crap where credit lasts for only 30 days – and post-paid data plans or pre-paid data plans. I was thinking $10 – $15 for 1GB.

as usual high costs and aussie consumer being ripped off by optus, as well as other Telcos mind you. What happened to US$199 you ask, not in Australia mate, we like to charge double for everything even when not required. I had the 1st iphone but may have to wait till the dust settles for the 3G rather than having to sell my left kidney to pay for it

you do realise that Virgin is practically a rebranded Optus reseller, right? So I wouldn’t expect the $45 deal that has $100 calls and 1gb data might work with an iphone…? as it would seriously undercut optus.
