At this price (AU$698) it still is a bargain. To be able to randomly wwwebalize in random places is worth the price. I picked my Eee 1000H on the weekend and already a few friends who are after mobile laptops, are considering the same model.

No Linux, no sale ! I'm not going to put up with being told I have to pay the Windows tax and that I can install Linux myself. I don't mind installing Linux, its the tax for something I don't want that galls me. Asus say the Linux versions are more popular, so why Windows only ?? No way to conduct a business unless someone is offering you an offer you can't refuse... but I digress...

Looks like I'll be having another look at the Acer Aspire One.

Pricing in Australia is (once again) out of line with the rest of the world. My friend just bought one in the UK for GBP 200 at Dixons - that's A$408.00

Have JB finished their exclusive with the 1000H?

Could their exclusive have anything to do with it?

And what's the hold up with the Linux version of the 901? Plenty of retailers have the WinXP version but no-one has the Linux version!

I picked up a 1000H at JB Hi-Fi for $628 on the weekend - they had 10% off the advertised $698 price which they were willing to give without too much prompting.

Pity about there being no price reduction like in the US.

I just wasn't willing to wait for the MSI Wind, which AFAIK will still only come with a 3-cell battery for its cheaper price. If you add in the cost of buying a 6-cell battery later, the RRP for MSI Wind will probably be equivalent to the Eee 1000H, and side by side for specs, the 1000H still wins out because of 802.11n. (Of course, for aesthetics, every individual will have their own preferences)
