When are they going to be releasing a version of the jailbreak software for PC that will work with the 3g iphone?? And when will it be easy enough to use as the last jailbreak tool on windows? (Or am I being an idiot and it actually already does work on windows with the 3g iphone, because from what I've read, the windows fix only works with the 1 gen iphone, right?)

the biggest problem is that there isn't shit to do with the Pwnage tool yet, even if you successfully jailbreak. there's no Installer.app support, and therefore, no useful software.

There's no Installer.app, but there is Cydia. And since ModMyIfone's and BigBoss' repositories are APT-compatible, Cydia gets you a lot of good stuff...

...at least, that is, once that stuff is available for 2.0. Unfortunately a lot of the jailbreak apps for 1.x don't work on 2.0 at all. It's going to take some time to update things.

I unlocked my iPhone yesterday with the Windows method on my HP Laptop. Worked fine. My only complaint is that a large majority of the items from Installer aren't on the new Installer due to the firmware change. So we'll all have to wait to get a lot of our old Installer Apps.

I broke my 1st gen (with 2.0 software) last night. Theres not a lot avail on Cydia (installer.app replacement) right now, but this morning I was please to see that Poof is available now. I was getting really annoyed with not being able to hide certain icons (stocks, timer, etc.).

Be patient, im sure most if not all of our favorite apps will be ported over soon.

3g iphones can be jailbroken, just not unlocked(if i'm remembering correctly). like i said, i unlocked/jailbroke my 2g 1.1.4 iphone last night with the "work-a-round" method. wasn't difficult at all.

I jailbroke my 3G no problemo, just isn't much offered in the way of apps yet, but googled around and installer will be coming soon, and the dev will and prob are starting to port over to 2.0 so be patient, it's coming. I just wanted to customize my startup logo, that's the only reason i ran the Pwnage in the first place, was simple, just take your time, and follow the prompts. Have the Basebands downloaded and on your desktop where the restore .ipsw is and it should find them no problem, and then just let the app do it's thing.

I am a complete noob when it comes to this stuff, so just how difficult is it to jailbreak the 3G phone? The last thing I want is a 300$ brick. (although it would still be a nice looking brick)

And I still think the original iphone sucked in comparison to my tilt, but now that the iphone has 3g, I'm glad I got one, it's much faster and better than my tilt in terms of usability. The tilt still beats it in features though, but it's more for the business user/professional/guy that likes to tweak everything. But yea I actually did get an iphone 3g on release day, I even waited in line. I still don't like apple though (as a company as a whole, jobs is still a prick), but they make a decent phone.

I remember him and his argueing against my ponts, which were mostly valid points for the PREVIUOS iphone (edge iphone sucked), but now that the 3g model's out, I had to get my hands on one (got it on release date) btw i just jailbroke mine! YES! (it's restoring my apps and stuff now)
