Mysterious Wireless Guitar Hero Controller For Wii Surfaces
Posted by Matt Hickey at 9:38 AM on July 15, 2008
A reader in Michigan sent in this image he snapped at his local Wal-Mart of a hither-to unknown controller for Guitar Hero for the Wii called the Rage. None of us have heard of it, a Google search turned up nothing, and there's nothing on Wal-Mart's website about it, so it's a mystery. But it's a sweet looking one, with the box stating it's got the most realistic action yet, light-up LEDs on the fretboard, and a realistic looking wood-toned neck. Pretty sweet, though with the US$54.78 price tag, you pay for the good looks. Thanks, James!

So I can actually know now if I hit the button or not thanks to the light built in? Cause I swear, on all those misses, I hit the damn button...

Interesting that products are now showing up this way. I thought it was just the workers that seemed to appear out of nowhere, undocumented.

Maybe is also compatible with rock band since it has those solo buttons...but looks pretty cool, though.

Yeah, they sell this at my walmart too. Just seemed to be some random 3rd party controller.

The Rockband does't need a wii remote, yet the Guitar Hero one does, right? Why is this so?

Where is the wiimote slot? It is behind the guitar? I thought Nyko was the ONLY third party company that was allow to produce third party guitars, what is this?

@Dynasty: There is a cover in the back that you pop open to put the wiimote in, it has a plug just like the nun-chuck does.
I got one of these, tried it on rock band with no success. It's also very cheaply made and the sticker that shows the colors on teh fretboard peeled off within the first 10 minutes I had it out of the box.
My recommendation: spend the extra 10.00 and get the official rockband guitar, it's much sturdier, doesn't take up one of your wii-motes and the action feels WAY better to me.
I did find a few forums where people said that it doesn't work for them on rock band at all but I can't find them to link because of all the new posts by the techo-blogs out there.

Okay, I had to register just for this...
I had a GHIII party at my house, but only had one controller. This was the only controller at the Wal-Mart I went to, and I was in a hurry, so what the heck.
Piece of JUNK.
Very cheap construction.
The wiimote didn't fit right.
The wammy didn't work at all.
The buttons were too clicky and hard to push.
Only good thing about it was Wal-Mart's return policy.
Awful hardware, avoid at all costs
