Juicebar: A Super-Thin Disposable Mobile Phone Charger
Posted by Sean Fallon at 7:20 AM on July 9, 2008
The British company behind the Juicebar are billing it as "the world's slimmest emergency phone charger." The device looks about as big as a cardboard coaster, but apparently it is capable of powering up a phone for up to 480 minutes of standby, or around 60 minutes of talk time depending on the device. Full charge is reached in about an hour, but you are free to talk anytime during that period.
It also has a 5-year shelf life which the company has backed with a guarantee. Obviously, it makes more sense in the long term to have a rechargeable backup solution, but if you are caught in an emergency situation, dropping around US$6 on a Juicebar seems like a decent option. Juicebar is compatible with Nokia, Sony, Samsung, Motorola and Blackberry phones with an LG version coming soon—but, unfortunately, it is available in the UK only. [Juicebar via Gizmag]

Too bad it comes from England (the electricity will be in fortnights or something). Have we gotten our scientists working on some kind of converter yet?

And how does one dispose of it after its single use?

shape it like a pine tree, give it a fresh piney scent, keep one in the car for charging emergencies.

somewhat similarly, recently in an airport (was either dallas or san antonio) they had a machine where you put like 5$ into it, and it had a load of different cellphone connectors and itd let you charge your phone on it, kinda neat, didnt need it what with outlets near my gate but still cool for the guy on the go i guess

I'll never get those things here, they outlawed juicebars in my city a long time ago... Too many under aged girls running away from the nearby suburbs trying to make an easy buck... wait... nm.
@Dook_In_The_Urinal: Unless it was a really hot lady truck right? You know what I mean?!?! HAHAHA BOY HOWDY!

Never buy any phone that doesn't charge off of a USB port.
My laptop is always my emergency charger.

Throw it on the ground like you do cigarette butts and used motor oil.

They already have the ones that you put a AA battery into and charge it that way. They sell them at all the big box stores and it's a lot easier to find AA's if you need more on vacation or out traveling.
