Creative's Zen Krystal MP3 Materialises Out of Nowhere
Posted by Sean Fallon at 3:39 AM on July 18, 2008
It kind of looks like a Zen Stone, and it is certainly a far cry from the Zen X-Fi, but this little MP3 player has been discovered hiding on Creative's Hong Kong site. Apparently, the 4GB Zen Krystal is designed to be a sports player with a pedometer that functions similarly to the Nike+ line. It also includes games like "Hurdle Race, Catch & Dodge and Dice Roll" as well as a Blue 0.7" OLED, FM radio, and 10 hours of playback. A price and a release date have not been made available. Elegant design... lovely to look at and given Creative's audio capabilities probably great sound...

This actually looks really nice. Sometimes I wish the Shuffle had more pizazz to it.

@Wegmans: I must say I didn't care about it until a few month ago, where we lost electricity for a few days after a good thunderstorm.
Only had my zune and my zen stone to keep me updated with what was going on.

i just don't understand why people care about FM radio.... use it as a fall back in case your 4gb of carefully selected music starts to bore you? catch up on the latest annoying commercials? listen to your narcissistic shock jocks?

@Wegmans:
Yes, actually, sometimes it's nice to listen to the radio. Weekends on NPR are particularly entertaining.

I used to be a fan of Creative, and I owned a Zen Vision:M for the longest time...
...now everything they do just says "half-assed effort" all over it.

The "line Nike+" part is interesting? Does it work with Nike shoes?

@Wegmans: I've got 50GB of music and yes i get bored. FM radio can be repetitive too but sometimes it's nice to hear even the familiar songs you don't own -- and there's still plenty i don't own though my collection is 50GB.

@Wegmans: For the most part, FM radio is just plain shit. But every now and then, it can prove itself useful.

@Th3Chos3n0n3: Thank god you told us you have an iPhone, without which we would have no quantified value with which to compare this products battery life to!
My Sony does 36 hours!
