Yeah i like it nice and clean. New but familiar!

I know ad's make up a lot of Giz's revenue, however I think it's ugly that you have the HP banner right at the top above all of the content, and also have one that follows when you scroll.

Also, how come the design doesn't follow onto the inner pages? It's the same old one...

Don't like it, the ad that stays on screen is ok... but you could fit 2 in the space it takes up... 2 columns that is...

Fixed width and scrolling ad, no offence kaan but I'm finding that hard to like.

Every time i come to gizmodos new site, my internet explorer window freezers, i dont have a shitty comp, its something to do with the changes u have made, but when it unfreezes and i get to ur site, it looks ok, dont like the scrooling advert tho

Nice Work Kaan - I love the tidy look; have been browsing the site for years and this is the most comfortable I've been browsing and reading as the colors are well chosen and its very clean - Well done!

Just a little something I've noticed in the past few months with some articles is that the words begin at the right hand top of the image and then jump to be positioned within the normal body below the image. Not sure if this is from the US site as its mainly the US items which have it, but, if its not, its just a heads up in case you had some control over it.

Keep up the good work guys, I just hope Giz AU doesn't become flooded with 90% iPhone related stories like the US Giz..

Has this upgrade borked your RSS feeds? I haven't gotten anything off Giz in a couple of days, but Lifehacker seems fine. Clicking on the link in the top left of the page marked "RSS feeds" just takes me to the archives. Archives page seemingly contains links to RSS feeds, but they just point back to Archives.

HUUUUGGE improvement! Much better than the old design. You'll always get people not liking change, but I reckon it's much, much better.

The new layout doesn't work well with Opera if you zoom the page at all. Zooming pushes the side ad off-screen a bit, so when you scroll down and the scrolling-ad stuff is triggered the ad jumps back on and covers the right-hand side of the text.

Just checked and the same issue applies to Firefox 3. Even if the ad isn't actually pushed off the side of the screen it still resets to a position that covers part of the text if the text has been zoomed.

Doesn't really work well with the Eee either - at least not the 7' one. There isn't any padding between the left hand side of the window and the start of the text which doesn't look pretty. Some of the text is also cut off. Is there any hope of fixing this?
Oh, and the scrolling ad is really distracting and not in a good way.

The scrolling advert along the right is terrible. When zooming in on the page using Opera it will obscure the text.

Well, at first it looks pretty good, but seems to have a few glitches, why did i bother buying a widescreen monitor, if gizmo sites like this don't follow suit and start making widescreen format webpages, i didn't buy it just for games and videos, most of my time is spent surfing the web but it seems that this is where the widescreen tech should be utilised, not thin frame websites that you have to peer at your screen to see.

Also some of the comments links seem to be screwed, i just tried to read the comments on the PS3 comp page, and let me tell you, that is the biggest waste of bandwidth that i have ever seen. Come on guys, for a gizmo site your UI is sorely lacking.

@Adam Sweeney – it's a work in progress. There's sure to be bugs with the change. Give us a little bit to work them out. I know you're a regular around here (and we love you for it), but the attitude sucks. If you want to offer constructive criticism, go nuts, but otherwise, best tone down the attitude...

Sorry guys, I didn't mean to come off like that, I guess I was venting a little, didn't really read through it before I posted it either. I really enjoy this site, I spend a lot of my time on it and even advocate it to my friends and i do appreciate the fact that you guys write it, and improve it.

Also to make me swallow my pride a little more, it seems I had just gone over my download quota and the excrutiating load time had nothing to do with the page but the speed. My bad, and consider my attitude officially toned down.

Looks pretty decent, but here are my comments:

1 - That ad bar that follows you down is really annoying. I know this site is completely sponsored by advertisers, but still - it's really, really annoying to the point where I'm pissed off with it.
2 - I browse a whole day's posts on one page (eg. http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2008/07/01/) starting from the bottom & reading up so the posts are in order. It's also easier to keep track of what I'm up to. It seems like the "next day" & "previous day" links at *both* the bottom & top of the page have disappeared so I have to type the next day's URL manually. Please put this back!
3 - The number of comments in brackets for both AU & US posts seems to have disappeared after clicking through to the whole article. Please put this back so that I can see what's a hot conversation topic & what's not.
4 - The fixed column width is very narrow. I run my browser windowed on my 24" 1920x1200 screen, but this is still just tiny. I sit close enough to my screen as it is :)
5 - It does seem a lot more like the US site. The word "clinical" springs to mind for some reason, but not in a bad way. I think I preferred the simpler warmer(?) previous version, but not by a great deal, and I'm sure I'll get used to this new one like everyone else. Be sure to keep the larger pics per post instead of the US's smaller thumbnail pics!

All in all, Kaan's done a damn fine job.

Oh yeah - found another thing. I'm using a little Eee PC 900 at the moment, and I've found that embedded flash vids are running like an absolute dog due to all the other flash-based advertising on the site - even when clicking though to the main article and watching it there.
