Brando EKmemory Micro Flash Drive Suprisingly Not Cheapest, Smallest Of Them All
11:45PM John Mahoney | I’ve been meaning to buy a Super Talent Pico flash drive for a while–they’re 8GB, 31mm long (claiming world’s smallest) and have a metal loop that looks like it won’t break (hopefully) on my keyring. Now Brando is jumping into the ultra-tiny flash game, and surprisingly, the 8GB EKmemory Micro will run you US$55–US$20 more than what the Pico is going for. And the Micro is packing an extra four millimeters to boot. For shame Brando, for shame. [Brando via Pocket Lint] More »

EA to Sell PCs, Maddens 2009-2307 Coming as Well
11:30PM Mark Wilson | EA, better known to some as Electronic Arts, was the publisher behind the most recent PC-melting game on the block, Crysis. In conjunction with the upcoming Crysis Warhead, EA has mentioned that they will be selling custom branded PCs to accompany the launch. Aimed at those who might otherwise be intimidated by a gaming PC purchase, the only problem seems to be that the systems seem tentatively priced for US$600-US$800. And for US$600, you aren’t really running Crysis (a game that can conquer systems that run ten times that) unless Warhead involves intense two-stick-one-ball minigames that are yet unannounced. So higher end models could be in the works, too. [ChrisRemo via Maxconsole] More »

Race Car Chairs Give You Office Pole Position
11:15PM Jesus Diaz | If you feel like you need an extra boost for your office chair races and/or ego, be prepared to pay up as much as US$15,000 for one of these RaceChairs, featuring original seats from Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati cars. Leather, carbon fibre, aluminium, every single element except a cup holder? For shame. Ray Wert demands his Ford Taurus office chair now! galleryPost('racechairs', 5, ''); More »

Panasonic Now Hoping For 40-inch OLED TVs Mass Produced By 2011
11:03PM John Mahoney | Last month the projection was 37 inches. Now a more reputable Japanese paper, Nikkei, is reporting a 40-inch target being mass-produced and ready for retail in the same time frame. As always, Panasonic/Matsushita simply confirms that they’re investing heavily into the tech and goes about their business. [AP] More »

Asus to Release 23 Eee Models, Fail Grandma Test 23 Times
10:44PM Mark Wilson | It shouldn’t be a surprise, really, as Asus has already whored the Eee brand strength to computer peripherals and even a television, but in a recent presentation the company revealed a sort of USDA computer pyramid prescribing an Eee for every class of buyer. And whether or not the majority of these 23 models are cheap, tiny laptops (unlikely) or the pyramid represents the Eee branding hitting all Asus laptops (a bit more likely), the whole line is looking like a confusing mess to consumers who just heard about the Eee for the first time. Junk Guitar Class, for Wannabe DIY Electric Guitar Makers
10:04PM Kit Eaton | Ah the electric guitar… every time I eat at a Hard Rock Cafe, it’s these fabulous bits of rock paraphernalia that grab my attention. Fascinating: design, art, creativity in one gizmo. And yet at heart they’re very simple: a plain solid body, strings, and some pickups. So very simple in fact, that a guy called Ranjit is holding a DIY junk electric guitar class at Etsy Labs in Brooklyn tomorrow. Just don’t take along half a wrecked coffee table and expect to craft it into a guitar that’ll make you the next Clapton: these Etsy things have “wind your own”-style pickups and just a couple of strings. Toshiba Launches Small, Cheap HD Palmcorder: Camileo H10
9:49PM Kit Eaton | Toshiba’s budget HD camcorder, the Camileo H10, actually doesn’t skimp on features, it seems. The SD-based device records in 720p to its internal 64MB memory, or SDHC cards (up to 8GB, around 4 hours of footage) and has a 10 megapixel CCD. It squeezes in a 5x optical zoom, video stabilisation, motion-detection shooting, night mode, HDMI output and a 2.7-inch display. Not bad for US$350, and available from the end of July. Colour-Coded Cutting Boards Save You From Fishy Meat
9:20PM Jesus Diaz | Being an amateur chef with kitchen obsessive compulsive disorder, I’m glad that someone thought of these colour-coded Index Chopping Boards, which are not only purty but smart and extremely useful. The polypropylene, dishwasher-safe boards are designed to be easily stored, like folders. They are also easy to pick up, with icons for each food group: fish, meat, vegetables and… medusas? I can’t make out the fourth icon from the photo, but whatever, for US$79 I’m getting one. [Sharesale via Random Good Stuff] More »

Garmin eTrex Works after Iraq Bomb Blast (Humvee Not So Lucky)
9:00PM Wilson Rothman | A few months back, some troops driving a Humvee in Iraq got hit. The troops evacuated before a blast blew the doors off of the vehicle; only one of the soldiers sustained a shrapnel injury. As you’ll see, the Humvee didn’t make it, but a Garmin eTrex left behind in the wreckage still worked. More »
