Thanko's Lazy Geek's Cushion, Perfect for Prone PC Action
Posted by Gizmodo US Edition at 6:52 PM on June 17, 2008
Ages ago I admitted to being a floor-lounger, and it looks like Thanko has come up with a solution that'll let me combine lazing around and blogging for the Giz at the same time. I might rename it from Lazy Geek's Cushion to "Relaxed Blogger's Desk" though. Looking a little like a massage table, it's 78 x 48 cms across, and can be propped up at a variety of angles from flat to about 30 degrees so your arms reach your notebook... and see that little space for your chin? Looks comfy. No info on pricing, but I'd love to import one. I'd just have to persuade my wife that it's a good idea, and not ugly at all. [Akihabaranews]

I am laying on my floor doing some work from home, and I really wish I had one of these.

The most industrious country in the world in terms of hours worked per year produces an innovative gadget for lounging around. Amazing.

That looks like it would hurt your back after a little bit, the way it bends you up from the floor.

Well At least from the female perspective; wouldn't this squish and really be a pain in the boobs?.

@Snorbalp:
Yeah... I got a very 'Star 80' vibe from this thing when I saw it too.
But need I remind everyone that in Japan they don't tend to have/use as much furniture as in some other countries ? Lounging around on the floor (even when guests) are over is totally common. I've seen any number of 'chairs' over there that don't have any legs...the seat 'sits' right on the floor...you put your legs in front of you 'indian' style and compute, web surf, eat dinner, whatever...but you get SOME back support.
Of course, some J-homes are quite westernized, but it's entirely possible that this little lady is lying right where she puts her bed when it isn't folded up and stored in the closet. And as for a couch...if she had room for a couch, do you think she would need to fold up her bed and put it in the closet ?
This particular design might not be *great* for your back in the long run, but it isn't any wierder than all those 'lower back pain' chairs from the 80's we had over here in the states that actually CAUSED back problems...

Is it wrong of me to be thinking of other things I could do with this thing? I swear they have these triangular shaped pillows at the local "classy" sex shop that my buddy was seriously considering buying for his gf. This would probably work, too.

@Bokusatsu_Tenshi: Yeah, I second that. When I set up pillows like this for using my 'puter or for reading a book by back starts to really hurt. Maybe it's just that I'm tall and asians are short.
