I'm a 30 year Apple Guru,
Living in Melbourne... I actually localized Apple OS's in Central European countries... The new Apple Store excites me like having a colonoscopy, the only thing I am hoping is that there will finally be some knowhow available to users, coz I ca tell you for sure there is none on the Tech Support at the Apple help desk, I'm tired of endless clients calling me because nobody at Apple knows their Jazz!!

I don't get it. I really don't. There's people with chairs out the front of it already.. what?
What's the difference between this and all the Apple Centres???

Apple Centres are pale imitations run by third parties - Next Byte and other.
This is the AU offshoot of the mother ship.
People are lining up because there is a tradition of giving out freebies at the opening of new stores. T-shirts are collectors items.

That "genius bar" is going to look mighty silly during slow periods when there are only a couple of people around.
And yeah, lining up for a store opening, particularly where there isn't a new product being launched, is weird.

Let's just hope the people working at the Apple stores know more about the computers, iPods and so on than Next Byte et al...

I am just as excited as anyone can be about this. I am a loyal Apple-Mac user and enthusiast. But I too am puzzled at the super-duper fans camping out front waiting to be the first to enter on Thursday afternoon. Do the first few people get free computers or something? An ipod perhaps? What???
I would want at least a new iPhone for freezing my chips off and sleeping out there like an idiot. I am keen but I can wait a few days or weeks. It isn't going anywhere.

I like that staircase, its just like the one in the blimp in 'A view to a kill'
That sales counter looks clinical and impersonal; perhaps cause WTF are the apple hotties?
Checkout chicks would have been much more efficient..

Personally, I can care less what happens in Sydney... how about a Perth store.
