@Monty: I think it's called Product Search now, but yeah, it's in beta. And will be for a very, very long time. I think the name of the service has been finalized though :c)

@Yeebles: Yeah, i read on kotaku that it is because in Beta status they can "phish" your account and give you targeted advertising based upon your emails, but can't do that in Gold status. Pretty clever, and i could think Sony might go that way too. Perpetual betas are fine with me, as long as they work!

Given how often companies just put products in permanent 'beta', I am not certain the label means much anymore. If it is released, then it is a production release. The fact that Sony calls it 'beta' means about as much as the fact that Froogle is still listed as 'beta'.

I have been so anticipatory of Home, it ranks up there with Spore (except it's not Spore, so it can't be as good as Spore). I never got into Second Life, but i was into ActiveWorlds for a lonnnng time, so i have experience with the platform, and enjoy them. I just hope that they can deliver on their promise sooner than later, even if it's in Beta (which i don't mind at all, being an extensive beta tester for a lot of games).

This news just excites me, although with it being Sony, they'll wait till 11:58 on New Years Eve (not 11:59, 'cause they arent that much of jerks).

@speakafreaka: Achievements are meaningless (XBOX 360 achievement system anyway). Isn't knowing that you beat the game, or found some hidden item, good enough? Why do you need some pretty icon and random amount of points for your friends to look at to validate your life?

I'm sorry... I'm addicted to achievement points and I'm trying to talk myself out of it.

Can't wait for HOME.. was addicted to second life for a while and still sometimes go on (SL: Skeetz Spitteler) but got bored of logging on and DJing for middle aged women pretending to be strippers.. it will be great to get on HOME with people and stand around and talk and fuck around.. but add the ability to join a REAL game from there and it's a perfect waste of my night!
