Nike Finally Releasing Back to the Future Part II McFly Sneakers, Sort Of
Posted by Adam Frucci at 7:18 AM on June 27, 2008
People have been clamouring for Marty McFly's future Nike's from Back to the Future Part II for years now, but Nike has done nothing about it. Until now. They aren't releasing the actual shoes from the movie, unfortunately, but they are releasing shoes "inspired by" those future kicks. It's a start. Click to see the full sneaks.
These limited edition Hyperdunks sport the same weird high section around the ankle that defines the originals as well as "2015" emblazoned on the tongue. They should come out at the end of the summer, but I have no clue how to buy them or how few will be made. I'm holding out for the real deal anyways. [Fubiz (translated) via NotCot]

...they did in the movie. Otherwise, why?

So it's just like the Zoom Air 2K, right? That's a bit weak, Nike-- give us the ACTUAL SHOE.

A friend of mine is so obsessed with this movie that he goes by the DJ name Rev McFly when he's out to "work". He will need to know about these.

The only reason to buy the Back to the Future II shoe is if it is the Back to the Future II shoe, otherwise, it's just an ugly-ass shoe.

SOLD....except wait, the hyperdunks are ugly as shit. as a sneaker collector, i have to say that marty McFly hyperdunks are a disgrace to marty McFly, and nike needs to release the actual McFly shoes. not these.
why? because all of nike's 21st-century sneakers have been, so far. either tributes to the old skool or horribly ugly looking.

As alluded to by alter, it's only 2008. The shoes shown in the movie certainly were derivatives of an earlier inception, whereas seven years from now the technology for auto-laces and a way to remove the strange '2015' markings will have been invented.

ok so i know that you guys arent really into sneakers, but that photo shop is from niketalk.com from the member bptheowner who created that before we had the real pictures of the shoes, which are SIMILAR they arent exactly like the ones featured in this story
here is the real shoe:

the first picture is correct however.

I'll take them as is. I'd say the design is an improvement. As much as I wanted the original ones, I know auto-laces aren't coming any time soon. These unlike Pear Cables are danceable.
Give me two please. A pair to store and a pair to play ball in.

Wow. Those are ass-ugly. What happened to the Nike of old that made nice looking basketball and running shoes. Everything today has to be SUPER XXX-TREME or "futuristic" looking. You fail, Nike.

@sbrown23: you fail.
Of course the should be futuristic looking being a variant of a shoe featured in back to the FUTURE.
Second, what's futuristic anyways? seems to me that they'd be CURRENT if they are CURRENTLY being sold. These aren't fucking concept renderings. ACTUAL SHOES.

Close, but not close enough.
If they have the resources to waste while making limited runs of Dunks, then they can make the real thing.

Well, I'll admit I'm happy someone other than the model builders are still interested in my favorite movie series! I'm just unhappy that the movie logo's nowhere on there (the 2015, background time circuit readouts, and arrows kill the idea of it being a subtle "real product" replica, it that's what they tried), and the designs on both shoes aren't the same and mirrored (same reason I just frown at the logos on my Puma shoes)! Given those flaws weren't there, I'd have to say I'd snoop around for them! I'd I wonder if this is for that movie-based design set of shoes?

first, these look nothing like mcfly's sneakers in part ii. second, they're just fucking ugly. they look way too much like their bullshit basketball sneakers and not the fresh retro dunks that nike is releasing, or the kinds of retro shoes adidas and reebok and asics are putting their time into. actually, nike, take a hint from those companies and get smart about some fucking designs.
p.s. i will gladly shell out a balls-ton of money for a pair of sneakers that actually look like the ones from part ii, but i would not save a cent to pay for these atrocious, half-assed 'tribute' shoes.

Too bad they didn't cast "Shue" in the first one....made the movie a little less believable as a trilogy.
