New Eee PCs from Asus Will Have Small Screens, Big Keyboards
Posted by Benny Goldman at 10:04 PM on June 30, 2008
Asus is working on a couple of new Eee PCs, the 904 and 905, say sources of DigiTimes. The models take the 8.9" screen from the 900 and 901 and mash it up with the bigger keyboard on the Eee 1000, which doesn't seem like a very good idea to us because the mini-notebook appeal is precisely its compact size. The new models may replace the current 900 series line entirely, but that, along with potentially increased battery life and storage capacity, is still up in the air. The price, however, are expected to remain the same. [DigiTimes]

seems like about every other day asus is announcing new models. like someone has a bunch of index cards with '8.9" screen, white case, XP, larger keyboard' kind of stuff written on them, and every morning they throw them on the table and pick a couple and declare that's their next machine...
maybe they figure if they come up with enough combinations, they will have something for everybody

It's marketing that drives the product development. See, they all drop acid then start writing on the index cards... drives the engineers crazy.

Here's a product idea: 9" screen, 1G RAM, under $500. With all the combinations they're cranking out, you'd think they'd have hit on this one...

I am confused now. Screw the EEE I'm waiting for Dell-E.

The 901 was so perfect! I love netbooks, I guess I just don't love to own one, which is why I bought a 14" c2d thinkpad for $30 more. lol XD

I think it's stupid, the biggest complaint for the 701 series is that the screen was too small for the body.

actually, I beg to differ. The smaller 700 & 900 keyboards are too small for my big freaking' hands. So a small screen/big keyboard EEE is probably the smallest cheapest laptop.

I find the new Eee PC 900 ugly, clunky, and undesirable. It so thick and the body looks like a toy. I hate how ASUS is ignoring the purpose of the Eee PC. The Eee PC should be small, light, portable, and CHEAP.

what a waste, I see nothing cool about EEE PC's. I'm happy with my HP 2133
