iRiver Volcano T7 Is MP3 for Chewing Gum Diehards
Posted by Gizmodo US Edition at 3:15 AM on June 11, 2008

Available in five colours, the Volcano T7 is the latest DAP player. Reminiscent of a memory stick and with a small OLED display, it's available in both 2GB and 4GB versions. There's also a USB 2.0 port, an FM radio, and an equaliser. There's also a recording function, both for voice and radio. Now available in Europe in five colours—white, black, pink, blue and chocolate—the Volcano T7 costs the equivalent of $US48 for the 2GB and $US78 for 4GB. [Akihabara News]

What a crappy design. The end of that is begging to be broken off in someone's USB port.

or perhaps just "gum diehards" either way, the wording is poor.

wouldnt the title make more sense if it read, "iRiver Volcano T7 Is MP3 for Gum Chewing Diehards"? that is unless i have missed a techie type joke which is entirely possible...

I wish more mp3 players would go cableless, i really hate being somewhere and wanting to grab/give a file i have on my Sansa but alas - no cable.

@MFlick: A lot of people call it chewing gum and not just gum so it's not really poor wording...

@godwhacker: "i have been using belt pouches for years..."
Careful you don't add any more stuff. You are just one precarious step away from this:

@nutbastard: I was thinking the same thing when the iPod shuffle went from gumstick to docking through its headphone jack. Now it too requires a proprietary connection.
Well, anyway, I'm not one for chewing gum diehards. I have standards.

So is it available in five colors, or five colors?

@Gormania: Indeed, we call it chewing gum in the UK.

@MFlick: She's right, actually, for reasons that number in the millions.
- Meaning: she's not describing what the diehards are doing, she's describing what they're diehards for.
- "chewing gum" form: like you'd say "candy bar" form for cell phones that look like candy bars, and "candy bar diehards" for fanboys thereof.
- Frigg's Law
- Infraclass: marsupials are mammals in which the female typically has a pouch (called the marsupium, from which the name 'Marsupial' derives).
etc. etc. etc.

@Kaiser-Machead is in your Macbook Pro!: @bosskev: Of course, any similarity between the so-called "Frigg's Law" and my own name is purely coincidental, but yeah, if anyone wants to muscle it into Wikipedia, I'll buy 'em a beer. Assuming they're of drinking age in their country of origin.

@nutbastard: Indeed, I'm going to cry when my Creative MuVo TX dies. Built-in USB like a thumbdrive AND uses a single AAA battery. I'm using rechargeables, but if I'm on the road, I know I can buy disposables anywhere.
