iPhone Officially Coming to Spain
Posted by Gizmodo US Edition at 7:21 PM on June 2, 2008
Spanish site Apple Weblog has discovered a hidden iPhone page from Movistar—Telefónica's mobile arm. The page officially confirms what we already said two weeks ago: Telefónica will sell the new JesusPhone. The launch day was not mentioned in the site itself—which was supposed to be secret, and has been taken down already—but the date that we announced remains the same according to my friends in the company.

Translation: "Movistar brings you the magic of the iPhone. Would you like to know when? There are already 29 impatient people."
The 3G iPhone will be available for sale in Spain at the June 18 grand opening of Telefónica's megastore—an Apple Store-like shop located in the company's landmark building in Madrid's Gran Vía—with nationwide availability the next day or after a few hours. The shop is now getting its final touches. [Apple Weblog—in Spanish, gracias Paquito]

@jesusdiaz: Now you can run your iPhone legit without hacking or jail breaking right? :)

@TimurY: Maybe not for you, but here in Spain we have been waiting for the iPhone for one year. There are people that don´t want to buy it in the US and then hack/jailbreak it; we prefer to get the iPhone "officially".
I´ve tried to find that web ('coz I read about it this morning), but it´s not available anymore.

I had a imported and hacked iPhone for three weeks.. then I got the chanse to sell it and actually earn $200 on then deal. so I tought I could just buy a new one if I wanted. and gues what.. I love my Nokia N95 8GB more than any other mobile Ive had.. it does EVERYTHING and more than I need.. and its got a keyboard.. lol

@D_Zarster: I wouldn't say the N95 has a keyboard. It has a keypad. Using the iPhone's virtual keyboard will still be faster than the N95's input method.

However I knew I wouldn't regret purchasing the original iPhone back in September when I had the chance :) Around that time word was it would be coming to Spain around christmas, and it really had me doubting.
Good job I'm used to the speed at which things happen around here.

I´ve read this info in at least 3 newspapers, with the same source (Europa Press):
[business.timesonline.co.uk]
It would be great if the price of the iPhone is 99€...

¡Al fin, cojones!
We seemed a third world country or something, didn't we?
I just hope this mobile goes under Movistar's points program.
