iClooly Stand Gives Your iPod Touch a Mini-iMac Look
Posted by Gizmodo US Edition at 7:14 PM on June 2, 2008
This iPod Touch-only stand from Rockridgesound blows the iPhone Xtand out of the water in its iMac-alike styling— it's even got the drive slot there on the right-hand side. Handy for propping the iPod up when you're watching movies, the iClooly's got tilt and rotate functions, and you can connect up the dock connector and headphones whilst it's in the mount. You can own this bit of shameless Mac fanboyness for around US$47 from RockRidgeSound. [Av Watch]

$47 for a bent piece of brushed aluminum with a bracket? I guess that includes the necessary fanboy tax

@The Magnificen7: There's a heavy price to pay to have an apple sticker on your ass!

@The Magnificen7: It's the fanboy tax as RobotVampire already mentioned--You gotta pay extra to be an Apple nerd. I think these little companies that just have one good idea end up charging so much because they work in small quantities, but I'm sure they'll sell some. They could have made a lot more money if they would have made it for the iPhone as well as the iPod Touch.

That's kinda cool, if not over priced. What they should really do is have a similar product for the iPhone that makes it easy to remove and answer calls without adding much, if any, extra bulk.

Hehe, it does look cool, but 47 bucks is way too much for a piece of plastic, unless you are an iPod geek :)

Not good for the car because it isn't fixed anywhere, and you're certainly not gonna use that as a monitor... maybe neat as an iPod stand.
So yeah. Fanboys only.

Wow! Giz is translating stuff for us on the fly - way to go!
so here's my question:
Is the stand designed to resist the force of fingers pushing against the interface to do stuff? Or will it roll backwards?
Also - anyone else notice how all the pics pretty much look like CG renderings and not actual product shots?

I'm waiting for the belly stand. This does not look like it would be stable on a belly.

@GeekyNerdGuy: Duct tape, dear lad, duct tape.

@uberfu: wellllllllll, yeah, especially that one with motion blur. Unless that one was shot with... the Amazing Casio EF-X1 DSLR at an astonishing 1200fps!

- Price point sucks ball hairs. $30 or less and I'll buy.
- Who has an iPod touch? Sheesh, target iPhone first, losers

@uberfu: LOL, I didn't think of that. It does look like it wouldn't take much force to tip it over.

@karmaghost: How about a bluetooth connection built in that gives a usable speaker phone? Then you wouldn't have to have an easy disconnect to answer the phone. THAT would be worth $47 to me. As rabid a fanboi as I am, while cool looking, at $47 it's a pass for me, even if I had a touch to put on it.

I like it, but not for $47. I'd say anywhere between the $19-25 range I'd pick it up. Kind of dumb they would only limit it to ipod touch owners though.

That's nice, do you know if the I-touch or Iphone by apple has a I- Luv 7inch touchscreen docking station with the stand too? Like at engadget.com
